Donald Trump is at it again. The Republican presidential candidate who says he’s pro-life but praises the Planned Parenthood abortion business is now making the entirely pro-life movement look ridiculous with his latest comments.
While pro-life advocates yearn for the day when unborn children are protected under law and abortions are banned, the pro-life movement has historically opposed punishing women who have abortions — instead focusing on holding abortion practitioners criminally accountable for the unborn children they kill in abortions.
That pro-woman mentality is partly due to the understand that the abortion industry preys on women — selling them abortions by lying to them about the humanity of their unborn children and the destructive effects abortion will have. The pro-woman, pro-life attitude is also partly due to the fact that the pro-life movement is led by millions of women who had abortions and now deeply regret their decisions, thanks to a change of heart on abortion, or a religious conversion or a simply understanding that they took the life of their own child.
Now, in new comments that are causing even pro-life people to cringe, Donald Trump says women should be punished if abortion is banned again. Here’s more:
In a taped town hall interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews to be aired later on Wednesday, Trump was pressed on how he would go about banning abortion.
“Should abortion be punished? This is not something you can dodge,” Matthews asked him.
“Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say, ‘Yes, it should,’” Trump responded.
Matthews then pressed him for a straight answer on what a ban on abortion would entail.
“Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it,” Trump answered.
The former reality television star later added that “there has to be some form of punishment,” for women who get abortions after a ban is implemented, acknowledging the punishment would “have to be determined.”
Leading pro-life advocates on Twitter collectively face-palmed were quick to point out the ineptitude of Trump’s comments, saying they make him loko as if he is not genuinely pro-life:

Good grief. Trump may be doing a batter job of getting across the fact abortion is an act of murder than wimpy pro-lifers.

Unless they just love calling themselves pro life so they can feel morally superior, then what is their issue here?
Does he have any pro-life credentials? I happen to agree with him but I think he’s just giving fuel to the leftists. This will only help Hillary.
I think part of the problem is we assume more people are “conservative” than not. I, in my heart, don’t think that is true.
When you promote pro-life out one side of your mouth while promoting pro-abortion out of the other side, then you win votes from both pro-lifers and pro-abortioners.
This is regardless that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for abortion purposes.

So why bother then?
Not if he can articulate the position properly.
If abortion is an act of murder, a woman should be punished. If not, the implication is that an unborn doesn't have or deserve an equal right to life because it isn't equal to born human beings.

I think abortion providers and women who murder babies should be punished. However millions of other voters disagree with that position. Many of them hold that position because its what they’ve been taught. Our schools have largely taught a pro-abortion position from grade school through College for 40 years.
In Biblical terms its throwning seed down on stone. You have to soften the heart before they can hear the message.

Why bother what?
First, he was asked a hypothetical question that if abortion was outlawed, should women who have an abortion be punished....
The only answer is yes, otherwise it isn’t a law....
Second, he never praised Planned Parenthood abortions, he only stated that the women’s health side provides valuable health services.....but that he doesn’t agree with the abortion services and would work to defund it....
Heck since this election cycle started I’ve seen longtime freepers supporting Planned Parenthood.

About the abortion business, Trump said he opposes taxpayer funding but added, “It does do wonderful things but not as it relates to abortion.”
