She is out to stop Trump, not support Cruz...

Not so fast. The picture of Melania that started the whole wife thing included the line, “or, you could support Ted Cruz on Tuesday.” This sure looks like Cruz support. Ted Cruz afaik has not denounced Liz Mair’s actions, just Donald Trump’s. In fact, Cruz hardly ever denounces tacky things done in his name.

She has young children. Even her mom is getting threatening phone calls from Trump supporters. Apparently some of his supporters are as tolerant as he is - my way or I will ruin your life. I don’t think her ad was a good thing or if had any effect but threatening others for free speech used to be a left wing thing. Now it is a Trump thing too. Sad.

Sorry it was sarc. That ad was directed at the Mormons and would help in few other states. Cruz could have said I did not put out that ad and that kind of politics is disgusting. Spouses should not be used in the campaign. Instead he kept silent about the ad and went after Trump. I’m guessing Trump will go at him with both barrels now. Interested what the National Enquirer has on Cruz....but that thread keeps getting deleted by mods. Is that the reason Katrina Pierson is not working for the Cruz campaign.

I would find Kasich a nice administration job: Secretary of Education for the 90 days it takes to shut down the Department of Education in an orderly manner and transfer any useful portions of their database someplace worthwhile.

Then I would make Kasich Secretary of Commerce for the 90 days it takes to shut down the Department of Commerce.

Next, I would make Kasich Director of BATFE for the 90 days it takes to shut down the ATF.

Follow that with Kasich administrator for the EPA during the 90 days it takes to shut down the EPA.

Follow that with Kasich Secretary of Homeland Security for the 90 days it takes to shut down the Department of Homeland Security and transfer their legitimate responsibilities to the real departments that preceded DHS.

I would love to see Kasich spend eight years becoming the national expert on shutting down extraneous departments, agencies, and other organizations, identifying their few relevant duties, and transferring those duties to the surviving departments without keeping more positions than absolutely necessary.

Kasich is worthless for everything else, but he might be able to do that job. He likes having a title, and he could collect a whole stack of titles - last FedGov official to hold 20 or more different Cabinet and near Cabinet jobs.

Bull she is a Cruz supporter, she even says so

Liz Mair, founder of Make America Awesome, said the point of the campaign is to rally voters around Ted Cruz, and she expects the ads to reach 10,000 Mormon voters per day.

I really do think we all need to rethink the political ethics of not attacking or at least scrutinizing a candidates wife or spouse.

In the old days, a First Lady did First Lady things, like Jackie Kennedy bringing glamor to the White House social life, or Lady Bird Johnson’s campaign to “Keep America Beautiful”. But sometime after that First Ladies started to become more and more political.

So starting with Hillary Clinton, we were told we’d be getting “Two for one”. And sure enough, Hillary stuck her nose in all kinds of political shenanigans and issues—remember Hillarycare? The White House Travel Office? Vince Foster?

Then Laura Bush calmed it all down to a very low level, hardly ever speaking political.

And now we have Michelle Obama, who also can’t keep her mouth shut, forcing millions of school kids to eat crap, and not being proud of her country until her husband got elected, and generally shoving her fat @$$ all over the political landscape.

So...

We would do well to at least scrutinize these spouses.

Last year’s Liz Mair controversy. Scott Walker hired her, then quickly fired her. Red State Eric Erickson rose to her defense:

Dear @ScottWalker, Liz Mair Is a Friend of Mine | RedState
By:

Liz Mair works for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. She has been hired to do communications outreach. She is very good at her job. She is also a friend of mine. I have known Liz for a number of years. In 2012, Liz worked for Governor Rick Perry.

I am very saddened to see an organized effort by conservatives to have Governor Walker fire Liz Mair.

Liz is most definitely more liberal than either Scott Walker or me. She and I disagree on a number of issues, particularly social issues. But I also know she is very competent at her job and works for the candidate without pushing her own agenda. She has proven this time and time again.

Leftwing activists recently ganged up on Elizabeth Lauten. She was a staffer no one knew who worked for a Congressman no one knew. The left drove her from her job and ruined her career because on her personal Facebook page she made comments critical of the President’s daughters.

It is really appalling to see self-described Christians showing as little grace towards Liz Mair as the left showed to Elizabeth Lauten.

Were Liz Mair in a position within the Walker campaign to shape public policy on the social issues on which we disagree, I’d openly suggest the Walker Campaign look elsewhere or find balance. But Liz is not doing that. She’s doing social media outreach and helping the Walker campaign push their message out.

I really am appalled that so many Christian conservatives are showing such a lack of grace and overwrought outrage over a communications consultant.

I think an early test for Scott Walker is going to be if he is willing to stand up to the sound and fury of people outraged by a staffer’s tweet in the way he stood up to union activists. He should stand up here and keep Liz Mair. This tempest in a tea pot will die down. And if it doesn’t, it is just freaking Iowa.

The Iowa Caucus picked Bush over Reagan in 1980, Dole over Bush in 1988, Huckabee over McCain in 2008, and Santorum over Romney in 2012. It’s straw poll has only picked the right candidate once since 1979.

Scott Walker, it is just not worth tossing a well qualified person because she tweeted a personal opinion before being hired. Out the people who screw up on the campaigns, not the people not on campaigns. But as it stands, a whole lot of people who’ve screwed up the last several GOP campaigns are getting promotions and commissions while we’re lining up the circular firing squad over someone who will have no impact on shaping policy, but is quite effective at communicating it.

UPDATE: I see from the Associated Press that Liz Mair has resigned from Governor Walker’s campaign. Given Liz’s work history, I will put it to you this way — Team Walker has botched this. There’s just no way Liz Mair resigned with it being her idea. I haven’t talked to her yet, but there’s just no way. So instead of Walker owning this, he’s passed the ball and made a staffer off herself. That’s unfortunate and plays into the “not ready for prime time” theme already developing around Team Walker. At least it is early.

But the voices who decided to stir this pot need to DIAF as far as I’m concerned.
