Alarmed by the harsh attacks and negative tone of their presidential contest, broad majorities of Republican primary voters view their party as divided and a source of embarrassment and think that the campaign is more negative than in the past, according to a New York Times/CBS News national poll released on Monday.
The dismay has not set back their leading candidate, however. While about four in 10 Republican voters disapprove of how Donald J. Trump has handled the violence at some of his rallies, Mr. Trump has also picked up the most support recently as several rivals have left the race. Forty-six percent of primary voters said they would like to see Mr. Trump as the partys nominee, more than at any point since he declared his candidacy in June. Twenty-six percent favored Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, and 20 percent backed Gov. John Kasich of Ohio.
Fully three-quarters of Republican primary voters expect Mr. Trump to be their partys nominee.

Proud of Trump, embarrased for the #nevertrumps.
Oh, they need to get over their self-righteousness.
I am not. What Trump is saying/doing should have been done years ago. Maybe we would not be in this mess if someone had. We have had a bunch of wussies.
The insufferable progressives at the Times are realizing it’s over for them
I am proud we’ve found a man who is unashamed to fight for our country not just the opposition, but the so-called members who pretend to stand with us. There will be a great weight on his shoulders should he be perceived as doing something he has criticized. WTP are looking for a leader, a man of core values which is shared by all Americans. An intelligent man who speaks to us, the ‘common everyday American citizen’. He is correct when saying this country takes care of everything and everybody but her own. It’s time some in DC realized that fact.
Go TRUMP!!
No one cares about your "Embarrassment".
Well, unless you're a Special Snowflake:
The embarrassed are clueless about the consequences ahead.
To Hell with the GOP-embarrassment.
I’m not embarrassed. I’m amused.
And the good Lord knows I am one of them. Cruz and Trump are both two monkey throwing their poop at each other. They are KILLING Conservatism.
Not a conservative friend I have anywhere in the U.S. is going to vote in Nov. They are sitting this nightmare out. The GOP built this crap and they can have it.
Here we had a chance to really build something conservative and it has peen pissed away by a d*** swinging contest.
Me too.
The Republican Party and the Media have been been unabashed in their juvenile attacks on their OWN CANDIDATE who they made sign an agreement to run ONLY for their party.
the NYTimes states others are embarrassed about something?
is this another bit of plagiarism from the Grey old has been?
“Im not embarrassed. Im amused.”
I am bemused. It’s funny...
Sometimes I find myself
amused by my bemusement.
This campaign is nothing compared to some of the historical campaigns in this nation!
Aren't you ? Isn't what the Republican Party Leaders are doing embarrassing to you ?
What if your candidate was leading in votes and the Party decided YOUR VOTE MEANS NOTHING, WE'LL DO AS WE DAMN PLEASE ?
What a crock!
Not a conservative friend I have anywhere in the U.S. is not going to vote in Nov...
Another red herring for those who are “embarrassed.”
Here we had a chance to really build something conservative and it has peen pissed away by a d*** swinging contest.”
Are you nutz? The country and the rest of the European countries are being destroyed by an islamo cult and the second place republican is being supported by another cult.
And you are talking about building something really conservative? What world are you leaving in, Peter Pan la-la?
I am embarrassed by the consistent lies from MSM!
