Trump 'needs all the help he can get,' donors say

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump often tells crowds at his campaign rallies that he doesn't need outside financial support to get to the White House, but some of his fans are starting to feel differently.

Donors to an independent political spending group formed to promote Trump's candidacy said in interviews on Sunday they were worried by reports describing the millions of dollars Trump's opponents are spending to attack him.

They said they admired the billionaire businessman's professed financial independence but thought a cash boost would help keep his fight for the Republican U.S. nomination fair. So 767 people sent in small sums - $25 here, $100 there - hoping it would help prepare him to face his many, moneyed foes.

"He needs all the help he can get," said Diane Abair, 83, a real estate agent in Redding, California, who sent $50 to the group, Great America PAC.

She said she didn't think her donation tarnished Trump's claim that he won't have to pander as president to any special interest groups because he's not backed by big donors.

"I'm not somebody that he can be beholden to," she said.

He needs the donations to pay back his loans to his “self-funded” campaign.

How much interest did Trump charge himself for his campaign loans? He’s a genius if the RNC will pay off these loans.

Not bothered by your mention but by disingenuously not seeing serious issue with all candidates. Although I understand why. Trump started running with all his flaws apparent not like some who professed Christian, conservative outsider status to go full bore establishment with Bush dynasty and Romney among many things. That hurt me so I imagine it really hurt you.

He needs a PAC that can support candidates in other races (congress, governor) in return for endorsements.

In addition to endorsements he gets allies in congress who will want his PAC money next election.

Hillary is good at this and a big part of her earlier super delegate lead was by raising money for other candidates.

///I suppose eventually the RNC will support Trump’s campaign.///

And Trump will let them. He’s going to need a ground game to get the people who say they support him to the pollsters, to the voting booths.

Assuming the gope still has any money left after spending hundreds of millions trashing Trump and Rubio.

If he doesn’t need financial support then why are there two “Donate” buttons on his website?

For thew same reason Cruz's folks keep calling me despite my asking them to take me off their list since I have switched to Trump.

While he has his own funds, it would be insanity to not allow some of the People to show their support monetarily too - it isn't just reserved for those who have "hopefuls" (of buying interest in their agendas) as far as getting funds.

I know. Trump has smoked out the closet liberals on this site. They hate him to the point of siding with the enemy. Just wow.

The funny thing is, Trump is actually demonstrating through all the vitriol and obstacles against him, that he can still run a successful campaign and be in the lead. Trump has certainly worked the hardest and earned every bit of his support. Amazing. Haters gonna hate.

Every contribution to any candidate is voluntary. Nobody has ever twisted my arm and forced me to contribute. If Trump want's voluntary contributions then I have no problem with that. But he should stop saying he's self-funding.

I am under the weather right now and don't feel like arguing. With that being said it bothers me that he has enough money to pay off all the right people. He is his own best lobbyist. I find that more of a problem than almost anything else about him. One who buys can also be bought. I have this real nasty habit of looking under the surface and behind the curtain and what I see is honestly worse than a self-righteous group of party leaders.

I am afraid that a lot of people are not looking under the surface and not really listening for those telltale signals that make them understand what they are really looking at.

The reaction I am getting to my comments are way similar to the stuff people gave me when I told them seven years ago that I was not supporting Obama.

Laz-

I think that the common ground between the Trump haters, here, and the globalists behind the GOP establishment, is the whole fantasy derived strictures of "political correctness." A Trump victory will confirm his initial victory over the PC suppression of free discussion of vital--absolutely essential--subjects that must be freely discussed, if America as we have known it is to survive.

The globalist business interests want that suppression to continue, because free discussion of immigration and trade issues, affects their ability to go forward with their self-serving plans; plans that put their perceived business interests, ahead of the claims of their fellow Americans for loyalty & moral duty.

The sycophants for the GOP establishment, who are not a part of the globalist business element, are simply poor souls who have been brainwashed into the denial of the reality that all of us are different. They, with few exceptions, may have simply been part of that very large group of young and not so young Americans who have been indoctrinated--in part by the utilization of PC intimidation, in College, High School & the Media, into simply being emotionally unable to even consider the vast differences among the peoples of the earth.

The Russian Pavlov demonstrated the canine version of the technique, with dogs.

In a real sense this election is a variety of a secular Armageddon. If those who have thus far benefited from the PC lunacy are able to reestablish the hold that Trump has for the moment broken; both the liberty & cultural heritage of the American people will become permanent things of the past.

Under these circumstances, those who understand the stakes must stand with Donald.
