In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Dixon did a good job at Pitt, but apparently not good enough from some of the hate I saw posted on the ESPN sites after yesterday’s announcement.
I don’t follow Pitt basketball closely, maybe Soother could speak to that a bit better. I know that they were disappointed on being out on the first round of the NCAA, but to be honest, both Pitt and Syracuse were iffy to make it in the first place. SU has played decently and been lucky to make it to the sweet 16.
Dixon had stagnated. Backslid, even. He certainly did a good job making Pitt what it was, but he has not had a good time since joining ACC. 1-3 in NCAA tournaments in last 5 years. Losing record in ACC tournaments. About .500 in the ACC.
Like in many other situations with coaches, they can’t get to the next level and eventually the welcome is worn out. I think Pitt would have kept him on, but the TCU thing was an easy way out for everybody.
