“Without even reading the article...must be a LIB.”
Oh, I don’t know...
I’ve become nearly obsessed with reading the posts of Cruz supporters. No matter how fluffy and illogical their arguments are, I can’t get enough.

Chickens can’t get enough styrofoam. They will get through any barrier, over any obstacle, under any fence to get to the stuff. Total obsession. Doesn’t seem to hurt them.

Pica is an eating disorder typically defined as the persistent ingestion of nonnutritive substances for at least 1 month at an age for which this behavior is developmentally inappropriate.

You are correct that this behavior sounds like pica syndrome. It is most often associated with iron deficiency anemia which is why it can be seen during pregnancy. Pregnant women generally need iron supplements starting about the fifth month of pregnancy and these cravings are an attempt to supply the nutrient that is lacking. One of the most bizarre substances I have heard associated with pica is starch eating - starch as in Argo starch used for starching laundry!

Eating foam or dirt or sticks or other items with no nutritive value is called “pica disorder” and it is fairly common.

She needs some of the turkey sausage the hospital served me last week, it just keeps growing when you chew, can’t be swallowed.
