Donald Trump crushes John Kasich — among those with bad credit
MarketWatch ^ | 3-15-2016 | Brett Arends

Supporters of “Deadbeat Donald” Trump are far more likely to have bad credit scores than the supporters of his Republican rivals, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

More than 20% of the people nationwide supporting Trump have a bad credit rating, compared to just 10% for Kasich, a new survey reveals.

And while Trump supporters may look down their noses at the supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, when you look at their credit scores they’re not all that different. Trump supporters are nearly as likely to have bad ratings as Clintonistas and those “Feeling the Bern” — and are actually slightly less likely to have “good” ratings.

No, this isn’t your father’s Republican Party.

The remarkable insight into the current political maelstrom comes not from a political or partisan source, but from WalletHub, a company that provides online personal finance information. It conducted a survey of a representative audience of 765 people across the country between March 9 and March 13.

Credit scores only offer a quick snapshot of a group of people, naturally. But marketers have found that credit ratings in aggregate are surprisingly good predictors of attitudes and behaviors, which is why lenders and even employers look at them.

According to WalletHub, about two thirds of voters have “good” or “excellent” credit scores and about one third have “bad” or “fair.” But a few details stand out from the survey.

The first is that Kasich supporters are in a league of their own. They have by far the best credit ratings, on average. Some 86% have “excellent” or “good” scores. No other candidate’s supporters even breaks 70%. Kasich’s supporters are half as likely to have bad or fair ratings as anyone else.

Maybe people with ‘bad credit’ have a better understanding how far down the fiscal tubes this country is, rendering them more likely to support Trump. There are probably other factors as well.

You want to check my credit rating? I think you will find it is just fine. How in the world do you poll the credit rating of supporters? You would have to somehow determine the names and address of everyone supporting Trump and then look up their credit ratings. I want to hear about their methodology for this absurdity.

Can 4 people riot?

Can 4 people with bad credit collapse an economy?

But, how does Kasich’s score stack up against Trump?

Sure, they are disaffected Democrats but they are still welcome to the GOP. If the economy was humming just maybe they could pay their debts.

“Supporters of “Deadbeat Donald” Trump are far more likely to have bad credit scores than the supporters of his Republican rivals”

Could this be because these are the people who have been hurt the most by Obama’s economic policies and the failure of the GOP Congressional majority GOP to do squat about it?

This is a very stupid article. I did not know there was a minimum credit score required to vote. Did anybody stop to think that some of these people may have had good credit scores before they had to train some guy from India to take their former high paying job? What about the guys from the Carrier plant in the news recently? Do you think their credit scores will rock once that operation moves to Mexico?

They need to do a poll for people who have lost their jobs in the last eight years.

I agree...a lot of people have lost jobs, now working 2-3 jobs a day, women are staying home because child care is to expensive, a lot of people lost their homes and have bad credit because of it...

It's the reason so many are supporting Trump, the economy under the 8 years of obuma, along with the horrible health care that people are being taxed with is unbearable...it's time for a change, not only in the White House but the Senate and the House of Representatives, in State and local cities also...

I don’t know what my credit rating is and don’t care - my house is paid for, along with my two rental properties. Desperation and fear brings the smell of cat pee from all these elitists and they can KMA.

Are there any credit scores of voters in your detailed research citing ethnicity other than the oft-reported “Trump white, uneducated working class”?
