I don’t care WHAT side you are on, some threads don’t deserve to be POLLUTED with petty politics.

This is a story about the faithfulness of a DOG. Not Trump, not the GOPe, not Cruz. No politics involved anywhere until YOU piped up with childish sniping.

For the love all all that’s Holy, can’t you just keep your petty little infighting to yourselves for ONE freaking thread?

A thread about the beauty and selflessness of the truest kind of loyalty contaminated with insignificant pettiness.

How posts on this site has fallen from its glory days of Buckhead, Sore Loserman and cattle futures.

Beneath contempt.

>>> I would be pissed if my dogs did not show the same amount of affection

Well... It’s romantic in theory. In reality, crippling for the poor dog. My dominant pup has “gone on strike” on occasions that she’s been separated from me for more than the usual work + round trip. Trusted others in the home (or neighbors dog-sitting her & the other dog) have a hard time just getting her in/outside to relieve herself. She’s dispirited in my absence, withdraws completely. Some feebleness of mind & body play a part in this, as she wasn’t always so psychologically dependent on me.

So I’m obligated to outlive her (presumably doable) but also must plan outings carefully or altogether avoid certain activities. The other dog has health issues that preclude boarding or entrusting her to someone who’s not used to her routine, but emotionally she’s normal & causes no grief to me or my housemate. As the only worker & usual shopper/ errand runner in my household, it’s a logistical pain in the butt sometimes. I do right by her in order to return her loyalty as best I can, but “crippling” really is the best word to describe her situation. I never wanted this for my sweet angel.

I truly grieve the dogs who are subjects of such stories.

the dogs we hunt do this
they are not hounds when you let them go they are GONE
these dogs we have hunt by running circles arond you about 200 yards off until they get a scent or sight something. when I stop while hunting for a rest I will lay down ( old men tend to do this ). They stop hunting. Circle up around the old man and lay down with me. I am not special, that is just what the breed does. So I would be pissed if they did not do this. I would rethink cleaning kennels every day and stop buying Call of The Wild dog food. Real nice tree dog breed for old men.

It sounds like you have a wonderful team going, you & your dogs together.

Forgive me for going on a tear about my old girl.

ooo no that was fine, nothing to forgive you for I just like bragging about my dogs. So any chance I get ....hunting dogs get old too.... I got a old girl here and lost a old girl a few months ago. so I know how ya feel. Even worse for the dog, when they want to go hunting and can no longer go. Never bothered me when I was young but now I am old and it does. We do not cull any of our dogs due to age or treeing ability. We always have room for another farm dog ( do not tell anyone but girls hunting dogs are better than boys and a lot sweeter )

Thank you for that comment.

God has blessed the souls of the canine angels he sent us and there is no reason to go astray from honoring them all with comments of compassion for their loyal hearts.
