” Dogs in costumes, dogs on walks, animals in poses. It is a tragedy,”

We have many like that here, in San Francisco, where many clans come to die out. Its weird, how often one hears of people who are the “last” of one or more families, childless, wealthy with so many inheritances, with no heirs.

I used to say the same things when I was a teen. I’m never getting married.. I’m never having children.
I’m married and we now have more children than anyone I know. Interesting how that works!

Amen-great point. It is easier to control a smaller population.

We have six children. Some were born when we had wiggle room in our budget, others were born when we relied on God to give us our daily bread-almost literally. Some were born in our youth, others were born when we had several gray hairs (I “restore” my natural color). Some were born and came home to new clothes and lots of baby gear , others came home to faded hand-me-downs and lots of arms willing to hold them.

All are loved, bring joy to those around around them and are a blessing to us. A hug and kiss from a toddler is like balm to the heart of a stressed and frustrated teen age sibling.

God commanded His people to be fruitful and multiply in good times and bad-even while they were in captivity. We cannot let our people slowly die out just because the other side is currently in power. How foolish and short sighted!

I don’t have kids, I don’t want kids. Why is that made out to be some horrible thing by so many people?

If there is less of us we are more easy to control. So yes go have babies. More of us are hard to control.

True, but only if you are willing to take the extra step to ensure that the leftist establishment doesn't indoctrinate your kids. That means home-schooling, constant countering of media pressure to accept leftwing ideas through music, movies, TV (in fact, no TV would be best), even video games and books. The way I look at it, we are 1935 Germany right now. Any kids you have could easily be turned into good little brownshirts. Just look at the Bernie followers or any random college campus.

I won't argue completely against having children because you are right - the side with the least babies loses by default. But I will say that this author's naive view of what true concerns there are out there for impending parenthood is almost offensive.

It's not. Unless you're a woman (kidding, kidding). Seriously, there are good reasons not to allow a culture of disdain towards having children, but not everybody should have them. The ones that can't understand why some people would choose not to have kids should count their blessings - life can do cruel things to some people and spare others. There is also a common characteristic that I've seen in people where they want everyone to do what they are doing in order to validate their own choices and circumstances. Marriage is not for some people, for whatever reasons, and children (who should be brought into the world within marriages) are not for everyone either. People can refuse to have children for selfish reasons, but they can also have them for selfish reasons as well.

When this country first started out it was not this way and people had kids. Lots of kids. Even if they had to homeschool or private school. The day the courts took God out of school is the day we should have taken our kids out period. Am I correct metmom?

And yet they expect the illegal and legal immigrants they bring in as replacements to support them in their retirement instead of euthanize them.

You know that commercial where the guy goes, “I am never getting married,” then he says he’ll never have kids or move to the suburbs?

That's actually a sad commercial, because the guy always does what he says he's not going to do, so at the end when he says "I'm not letting go" that means he will soon be abandoning his children

I’ve not seen this commercial, as I no longer watch TV. What is it for?

Whenever I see couples without kids, I plead with them to change their ways because, almost without exception, the ones who refuse to breed are the ones who would make the best parents.

On the contrary, it takes an unselfish person to make a good parent and anyone who's selfish enough to not have kids because of whatever reason, would not make a good parent.

I have a friend in his forties that never married or wanted kids. I look at him and I see someone who will die alone with no one probably giving a damn he was here.

He was crude but this is how these young people view having kids, and the reason why they don’t or won’t have them.

&&&
I am not disputing that he was accurate about the reasons they give —although I did not get far into the piece. My disgust is with his way of expressing himself.

The title made me want to read this, but this jerk’s foul language made me stop. Good grief!

Foul? Ass and Crappy? (OK maybe “n#ts@ck” was pushing the bounds of good taste) but I’ve read more foul language posted here of late. And it probably won’t get any better until after November (or maybe not). LOL!

I love that commercial. It reminds me of my nephew; the guy in the commercial even looks quite a bit like him. He is today very happily married with two young daughters, a beautiful wife, living in very nice house in the suburbs and driving, not a mini-van, but an SUV and is the VP of very successful business and is an all-around great and politically very conservative guy (and a gun enthusiast/ NRA member).

But there was a time when he was a punk kid, in his late teens and early 20’s and a bit of a “playa”, sometimes getting into some trouble although nothing major, but he did drop out of HS (but later got his GED and then went on to get a BA in business, then an MBA), but there was a time when some of us thought he might be more likely to end up in jail than turn out to be the great guy, the husband, father, son, brother and nephew he is today :)

Yes, I have been seeing a lot of vulgar language here, of late, as well, but that fact certainly does not make it any less offensive to me.

Really quite sick of the level to which our society has sunken.

One of the few valid reasons is having an incurable genetic disorder that will be passed on to your children. I’ve seen a woman think that her kid would beat the odds...they now cannot afford any more children due to his medical bills, he is permanently stuck at the mental age of ~8, and his life expectancy is shorter than my age.

Please get real, get screened, and consider adoption if the results come back really bad. I wouldn’t wish what happened to her on my worst enemy.
