Very inspiring. Roy Underhill approves!

If you want to see something even more inspriring, take a look at what Dick Proenneke did in Alaska - alone - over 40 years ago:

He not only build his house out of all native materials, but he filmed and photographed himself doing it, so these movies could be made. And he had to take time to feed himself and prepare for winter too.

Dick Proenneke was an amazing man. Had his movie on VHS, like to find a new CD copy.

The link above goes to the film on YouTube. No need for a CD

The things he made with simple hand tools was impressive.

Just watched it. Pretty amazing. I doubt I could do it. I'd go stir crazy.

Thank you!

I like the interior wall treatment and very much like the faux windows that open onto the staircase, which is usually a pretty boring space - it’s very Mediterranean

A lot of knowledge, skill, hard work and time went into building that house. Now I wonder how many refugees their government is going to insist that they billet there.

I think with men like Jacob there, they won't last long.

What kind of mortar did they use for the interior finish and was it applied directly to solid logs?

That is a whole lot of work and I guess you can see the girls aged a couple years

I was wondering that myself. How do they get that stuff to stick to wood?

Watching his family grow a little was one of the nicest aspects of the video.
