March 15: National Tar and Feather Day
Picking the LEAST worthy in Congress would be a challenge. Reid would be a good start. Pelosi....Boxer.....Cantwell....Murray.
Hard to pick just one so bring lots of tar and feathers.
April 15th might be a better choice.
BRILLIANT idea!!
We can only dream. don’t forget the riding them out of town on a rail part.
I have been saying for years we should bring back the gallows for treason.
There is a particular technique for tar and feathering. The temperature of the tar needs to be “just right”, because the goal is to make it EXTREMELY difficult and painful for someone to remove it and not injure them. I’ve been reading up on it.
I think I read were it actually killed some tax collectors back in the day. no big deal.
In days of yore, pine tar was readily available, as it was used in construction, and feathers were available from any bed. Where are you going to find those today?
bttt
About 135 or 140 degrees will do. Just hot enough to stick to but not blister the bare naked skin. Regardless the first layer comes off with the tar.
Excellent exfoliation!
Well trust me, chicken feathers and tar are available. People still eat chicken and tar is sold at any old hardware store. I don’t wanna know your world, it sounds too sterile.
Should be combined with National Pirate Day, so you could say “Arggggggggg!” right before pouring the tar and feathers.
The number of bald chickens would probably exceed the number on the national debt.
**Where are you going to find those today?**
Pine tar is still available in hardware stores. Asphalt tar will work if thinned down a little with paint thinner. Feathers are getting hard to find but the polyester filling in modern pillows will still work.
Then there is always HOT GLUE sticks! Ouch!
Change date to April 15!
That would probably be more appropriate. I had started to suggest a monthly event.... and not necessarily Congress, all elected officials: down to local. You would have to be sincere and flat out brave to run.
I know this is a very archaic proposal, yet it would bring results. This I believe.
A chicken plant in Dallas I know of sells the feathers to a local composting outfit. There is also a hog processing plant there as well....just saying.
