$20,000 is about how much I spend on clothes in 40 years but I guess you can’t wear jeans, t-shirts and generic brand sneakers to a fancy dinner for socialists.
Reporting on the dresses doesn’t violate what I consider reasonable limits - the daughters engaged in a political act (the state dinner) and the commentary is on the arrangements made for them ostensibly by their parents.
If this were about their personal behavior - I would definitely not see it as appropriate.
The girls are BAMs.
Black American Princess!
It’s just an illustration of Obama family values.
To be fair, this is part of the court culture. Those dresses were likely donated by the designers so their names would get the advertising. Sick... but not a public expense.
Just curious if they were partially or fully comped by the designer. Sometimes designers are willing to do this kind of stuff for publicity, but I can’t imagine a designer giving something like that away for free unless the dresses were “loaned” out for the night.
For all I know, the Obama’s paid for the dresses. I love when Democrats talk about the evil rich, though, even when they are living just like them.
That’s what I’m thinking too.
Let us eat cake.
A bunch of Socialists sitting around in $20,000 dresses talking about their compassion for the poor. What a freakin joke.
Yall are racists for noticing...
Yall are racists for not noticing...
November is coming.
Let us take solace in that fact. ObaMao’s family will be gone soon.
“It does not seem to be appropriate for a 17-year-old, IMHO.”

Strapless gowns have been around for a long time.
I wore one to my high school senior prom——and I’m 83 years old.

By the same token, gifts to the President and First Lady go to the government. Disposition depends on the nature of the gift, but they don't financially benefit the President or First Lady. I gather that some of them end up in Presidential libraries, and that items like jewelry may be borrowed back by a former First Lady for appropriate use, but she won't actually own the piece. I don't have a problem with that either, although I find the whole official gift thing tedious. I would welcome a president who let foreign governments know that this is one tradition that we are ready to stop.
Yes,it is an awful picture and she is a very beautiful young woman.

George Orwell’s Animal Farm—”Some pigs are more equal than others”.
Orwell “got it”.
Actually not. He's stated that he intends to remain in DC (for family reasons of course.) Wanna bet that if a Republican is elected the democratic lickspittle media goes running to him for comments on everything the new pres does?
