The blimp and dirigible hangers have clamshell doors.

Here is what I posted in post #5:
Edwards Air Force base has one runway 15,000 feet long, another is 12,000 feet long, and a third is 8,000 feet long.

it really isn't that long, the Army depot up the road has a 7000' runway and many AF runway's are 10,000'

He was the prototypical Irish Catholic from Connecticut.
Except he hated the Kennedys with a passion.
“A Kennedy is a person who wants to give your money to the poor and get credit for it” was another quote I’ll remember forever.
A 40 year telephone company man, he would have loved the internet and places like FR.

I guess not. But what could they be landing out there? Just drones, I don’t think so.

I tried to drag the little man over to get a ground level view, but it (seriously!) turned into a flying saucer.

Yes, I read your post #16.
The reason I am curious about Eglin is I have landed there several times on commercial aircraft. I remember one time it seemed like the airliner taxied for 15 minutes after landing. It made numerous turns in the process before finally getting to the terminal.

If aliens can travel across universes, then they’ve surely mastered landing without earth runways.

I don’t think the government allows the Google photo car into that area to take ground level pictures. ;-)

Imagine traveling 50,000 light years, and finally arriving at your destination, and then screwing up the landing because it was short and a little slick. Could ruin your morning.

True. The little man for street view becomes a flying saucer over Area 51 and now Area 6. The bright geeks in Silicon valley love this science-fiction stuff. It’s fun.

All this attention of secrecy at Area 51 is a diversion from the real secret stuff at Area 52.

Actually if you look at the runways at the old SAC bases they were all more than 12,000’ long. I thought it was for the B52’s.

unless its drones like the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle, other than that, anything they don't want to be seen by the public
