Massive GOP losses in the General election (down ticket).
And...
Everyone, including Trump and the Democrats will know that Trump can win without them. But, they cannot win without his supporters.
If one thinks strategically, this is a suicidal move by the Establishment Republicans. It ensures their banishment from the party to derisive laughter.
There's also a small camp that will not vote for Trump because he is not pure enough...either Conservative Orthodoxy or Morally. They do so out of conscience.
An admirable position, but it also relegates them to a losing faction without significant influence on the outcome.
Yes, there seem to be two types of voters in the GOP who can’t pull the lever for Trump.
The first is the one who is so arrogant that they are put off by the “ridiculous things Trump says”. To me these people are simple noble elites. They have always taken care of their own and resent someone crashing their party.
(To H with them)
The second group are the “Pure” conservatives. I have watched the pure group lose election after election. I am not (I guess) a pure conservative either. But I am pleased to see that some of the pure group is willing to go with Trump because he has the chance to re-align the party and stop the cash for donors crony capitalism that will finish us if we don’t finish it first. Sorry but Cruz is this pure conservative this time, and I wish him a position in a Trump administration, but if the tables were turned, I know Cruz would not have Trump in his administration (even though he joked that he knew who could build the wall.)
