Ted Cruz has rejected the idea of stopping Donald Trump's presidential campaign at a brokered convention, saying the move would lead to a 'revolt' among voters.
...
Cruz likely has his own reasons for wanting to avoid a brokered convention, however, as it is unlikely that he would receive the backing of many superdelegates, once released from the candidate they are now tied to.
...
In the case of a brokered convention, Rubio and Kasich likely have the most to gain - and unsurprisingly they are the two candidates thought to be preparing for just such an event.

How can he pick Cruz after questioning his eligibility?
Yup. The uniparty has been in control for many years. They are very, very good at staying in power.
Fkn A right it would.
Really? Does he? Have you EVER heard him express these verbally and succinctly? I haven’t...have you ever heard him string together 2 coherent sentences one right after another that VERBALLY explains said policies? I haven’t. My suspicion is that he not only didn’t write the position papers, he’s never read them. It is one thing to have someone else write them (which ok if he did it is as it is) but if you are unable to express those same thoughts then I’m sorry but quite frankly you don’t believe those positions, have no concept of those positions and never have.
A conservative that has conviction should be able to clearly explain positions they are for. Sorry but this guy can’t
Which might be the plan. The uniparty owns the rats same as the gop-e.
Is the uniparty ruthless enough to do that?
(Snort) I make myself laugh. They’d kill off half the population and go out for dessert if it meant holding power.
Forcing TRUMP to pick one of these stinkers to close the win, is a bummer.
Rubio and Cruz are both ambitious to a clinical proportion, having accomplished nothing in the real world, but expanding titles and “climbing” to increasing political thrust.
Trust would be dead with either of them because of it.
Paul Ryan is another danger lurking. He is USCCB all the way, with Wall Street next to them. Ryan is Open borders and North American Union right along with Ted and Rubio.
Cruz was anti-establishment before anti-establishment was cool.
In one interview, I think it was immediately after debate #10, Cruz said either he or Rubio would make a better president than Trump. The usual suspects here immediately turned that into a partnership between the two.
And quite frankly not a single one of them are fit for the office. After the last debate they’ve all been proven to be clowns and we should be PISSED. The only one remotely presidential on that stage was sadly Kasich. The rest was Jerry Springer and I’m sad we have FReepers that wouldn’t expect more from cantidates
I’m not a Cruz supporter and I think he is being smart in taking this stance. He is young enough, there will be other elections. If he drops out and Trump is the clear nomination he should endorse Trump. Coming across as gracious and fair would serve him better than taking a sore-loser-scorch-the-earth mentality. If Cruz does get the nomination Trump should whole-heartedly give him his support.
Without Cruz winning Florida which he won’t, he’ll need about 70% of the remaining delegates to get the nomination. Won’t happen. Its brokered convention or nothing after the 15th.
I’m guessing that as a Consitutionalist, he never, ever endorsed Trump.
Welcome to America, Post Empire. Trump was canny enough to see it happening.
How can Rubio or Kasich look the public in the eye while planning on stealing the nomination via a brokered convention. Why would they want to get the nod when it would completely pizz off millions of people?! Seriously. It seems like such a dumb idea!
If Trump is the nominee, I have a suspicion the GOP will put up a third party candidate with the full intention of throwing the election to Hillary under the premise that it’s better for the GOP in the long run than a Trump Presidency.
I think Ted is smart enough to know that a brokered convention and stealing the nomination would affect races down ticket including senate house and governor. It would be political suicide for the GOP.
If Trump or Cruz don’t have the delegate count required then ‘the process’ is the delegates do get to choose... As was stated....this is a Primary Election not the General...nobody’s going to steal anything, it’s simply the process for appointing a Republican Candidate to run in the General against the Demorats.
Well, lets make it official.
Cruz, after he loses FL and OH, will begin to make up with The Donald and will be his veep.
I have thought this from eight months ago. This was all kabuki theater.
I hope you’re right. We have to get Rubio to drop out first.
