Cruz Triumphant
The National Review ^ | March 4, 2016 | David French

Posted on 03/04/2016 11:31:55 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Tonight was the night when I could clearly see Ted Cruz as President of the United States. He made the right moral judgment — dealing with Donald Trump was far more important than jockeying for position with Marco Rubio or John Kasich. He made the case against Trump in the right way — he was civil even as he eviscerated Trump again and again. And he connected with the audience not just with his command of the facts, but also by making his case in an effective, human way. When he asked the audience how many had been waiters or waitresses, I had to smile. Both my wife and I spent more than our fair share of time bringing ice tea to thirsty customers, and the notion that waiting tables — even for a season – is a job Americans won’t do is absurd.

But I can’t praise Cruz without also praising Marco Rubio. Their nonaggression pact was clear. It is an extraordinarily difficult thing for political rivals to choose not to attack each other, but both Rubio and Cruz made the right decision. They both kept their eye on the ball, and in so doing kept hope alive in the quest to save the conservative movement and stop Trump.

Regarding Kasich, his performance was cheap and cowardly. Anyone can look statesmanlike when they opt out of a necessary fight. By choosing to cast himself as above the fray, he created a false moral equivalence between Trump, Rubio, and Cruz, and he transparently curried favor with viewers weary of conflict. With every passing moment, he is staining his legacy and his reputation. At a crucial moment, Kasich chose to be — first and foremost – for Kasich. Shame on him.

Finally, there is much more to be said about this, but words cannot express the contempt I felt for Trump’s insistence that the military would follow his unlawful orders to murder women and children. There are men who’ve paid the ultimate sacrifice rather than kill the innocent, yet he pretends our warriors would simply salute and follow orders when told to kill women and children for the sole purpose of punishing terrorists. Trump is sadly mistaken. If he won the White House and tried to implement his “policy,” the military would refuse to comply — because it has honor, because it respects the law, and because it knows the lessons of history. No order can justify an atrocity.

But I still have some hope that Cruz and start to rack up some wins as we get into the closed primary states.

Out of 3 tomorrow, he may win one and now that Trump will be there tomorrow, I am hoping it is a clean sweep for Trump. Mississippi on Tuesday is totally out of the question for Cruz. Florida will not go for Cruz no matter who wins. Ohio will not go for Cruz no matter who wins. So how on Earth does Cruz get any wins? I just don’t see Cruz winning any more states after Kansas tomorrow IF he does.

Utter nonsense. Words strung together according to the rules of grammar, but with no informative content whatsoever.

Its not Cruz supporters yammering on about boogers.

This is where Trump has taken the level of discourse. Funny, but statesmanlike? Well...

Cruz is a lock on NY, NJ, CT, PA.

I hear he's especially popular in the Philly, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester county area of Pennsylvania. What do you figure, one vote per county?

In the scenario that appears most likely to emerge from the primary contests, Clinton tops Trump 52% to 44% among registered voters.

Against Cruz, Clinton holds 48% to his 49%, a slight tightening from a 3-point race in January to a 1-point match-up now.

-- CNN Poll, March 2

Yeah, I know, CNN poll, but both Trump and Cruz referred to it last night.

“Ted Cruz has been a fierce advocate of the military, including their ability to recruit and grow their force, and their right to religious expression. Cruz has worked to ensure that members of the Armed Services have all the rights and abilities necessary to keep America free and secure.

Ted Cruz authored an amicus brief in FAIR v. Rumsfeld successfully defending the federal Solomon Amendment, which requires universities receiving federal funds to grant military recruiters equal access to campuses.

even by his own words just a few short years ago before he became convinced he could hoodwink the voters with his lawyer double-speak

Yes. As brilliant as he is, if his birthplace and parentage is no issue, then what was the problem with BHO being allegedly born in Kenya? The situation would be identical.

Yet the argument was that he was born in Hawaii so not to worry. But to me his father was an alien from Kenya who had a fundamental hatred of Americans, and that means he was not Natural Born.

Either we accept that or we don't. Cruz's ambition shouldn't trump the Constitution. I saw an interview he did with Jorge Ramos of Univision - a POS who is a fervent Mexican nationalist who only became a citizen of the U.S. so he could screw with the political system - where he referred to "our community" and how they had to be careful what they said.

Our community? What would that be? I thought we were all Americans, not part of some ethnic victim subgroup.

The Real Ted Cruz is a human being. He has ancestry and parentage, which admittedly spans both the U.S. and Cuba.

But this is what the Founders were working against. They wanted no one with divided loyalties. There are millions of us like that. While we may not all be as brilliant as Ted, and he is and I love him for that, at least we can say that such a person has his loyalties focused.

Answer this, Forest, please. What in God’s name makes you think that Trump cares about judicial nominees, considering that he has supported Kerry and Rotten for President?
He doesn’t give a sh!t and you know it.

The GOPe is now using Cruz as a wedge in hopes of denying Trump 1,237 delegates. They want a brokered convention. Or do you think NR is suddenly enamored with Cruz?

They know it but they simply don’t care. The Donald’s going to build them a great wall and then their miserable lives will be all better.
