Actually for a short time during my one of my father’s very infrequent stateside deployments in the 40s, 50s and 60s, I lived at 28th Avenue, Marlow Heights, Prince Georges County Maryland. The only way I can see that house now is to drive by about 50-60 MPH.
Brings back memories.
Decades ago, previous generations of relatives lived in Anacostia in Southeast Washington. I know, hard to believe now.
But they moved out in the late ‘50s as the area changed, and ended up in Clinton, Maryland, in Prince George’s County. But then as the years went by, and court ordered busing began, and Prince George’s County changed, the family members moved again. Some moved to Charles County, and a few moved way out to Frederick, Maryland, and Charles Town, West Virginia.
Haven’t been back that way in a long time. Don’t know if there are any decent areas of Prince George’s County remaining. But even if you live in a decent area of that county, you will still have a dysfunctional local government and dysfunctional school system.
