why wouldn’t Iowa count for Cruz ???

He got 8 delegates, Trump and Rubio got 7, Carson got 6, Rand Paul got 3, Bush got 1...

I think that’s right...

I might have Paul and Carson wrong..might have been other way round...

anyhoo Cruz got a majority...

or do you mean he needed at least 50% ???

No, as I read it, a majority means more than 50% of all of the delegates awarded. Cruz got a plurality in Iowa, but not a majority. In other words, Cruz won 8, but all of the others combined won 24; therefore, Cruz did not win a majority. However, Trump did win a majority in South Carolina. In fact he won all of the delegates. Going forward, and especially with the winner take all states coming up, it’s hard to see Cruz picking up more than two other states, whereas Trump should easily exceed eight.

Cruz did not get a majority there. Majority means 50+%. He got a plurality which means he got more than anyone else but it did not total 50%.

Nope, Cruz got a plurality; majority by definition means more than 50%.
