New to Posting on FR... Years long reader, Newly Zotted
Vanity

Posted on 02/24/2016 8:55:23 PM PST by NCLawyer

I've been reading FR for years now but haven't ever commented. I genuinely enjoy the commentary. Sometimes it's intelligent. Sometimes it's terrible. But it's always entertaining.

But I have a few questions:

Why does it take so much money to keep FR going? I have numerous sites that cost a couple hundred dollars a year to keep going.

Why is there censorship? Posts and comments at deleted. If they are bad or objectionable, why delete them? Why can't you self police this?

The admin mods pull posts and threads because there are many of us around here who are paying customers to keep the site going, and don’t want to be associated with some of the foul language and wild conspiracy theory and racism that is seen at other sites.

Those very elements are often introduced here by people who create accounts for the sole purpose of posting negative, racist, and violent discourse they would like to see attributed to conservatives.

If you don’t think that happens, you aren’t paying attention. We see it all the time.

I think the admin mods do an acceptable job. Every once in a great while there is an overzealous admin mod, but that is the exception rather than the rule. I have had a couple of threads pulled, and a couple of posts pulled over the years. I am often puzzled by it, but I can accept the occasional borderline thread/comment pull. I would rather have that, than the foul and repulsive discourse commonly seen at places like DU.

Most people self-censor language, I know I do. We have teenagers, and I have seen one Freeper who was nine. A well-spoken nine, but nine. I like it better that way.

As for the cost, it isn’t just the cost of running a server. It is being responsible for it, being a spokesman for when the site is attacked or referenced, and so on. If this is how Jim Robinson makes his living, then I don’t have a problem with it, since he has a stake in keeping it going because his livelihood may depend on it. I don’t worry as much about my favorite site being dropped because someone got bored with it or doesn’t have the time.

And yes, I pay monthly for that advantage, and it is well worth it.

Well, there are rules. No personal insults (even if infrequently enforced). No blatantly liberal commentary, because this is a site for conservatives. No using this site to undermine the goals of the site, that sort of thing. All in all JimRob and friends are pretty tolerant of a broad spectrum of conservative/patriotic opinion. But there are limits.

"After 18 years they censor before posting me. I dont use foul language or attack people. I express my disgust for Trump."

Thanks for the laugh, libbylu.

I am still waiting for your apology for that outrageous opus of yours a few weeks ago--you know--the one where you damned us all to Hell.

You are lucky you were allowed to return.

And yeah, I have been here almost as long as you have.

"...I've also been here long enough to know he isn't well loved, ironically..."

I have met the man. He can't get around as well as he once did, but takes the time to get to various protests and counter-protests whose causes I am fully on board with. He served his country in the United States Navy. Both of those things are a lot more than can be said for some people, even some who frequent this website.

He thinks an outlet for the expression of conservative speech is a worthwhile endeavor in life, especially since it is actively discouraged in many places, and I agree with him.

I certainly don't agree 100% with Jim Robinson's views on everything, but I don't appreciate him and support his site because of his personal views. I support him because he provides a place where discourse can take place, even if it is often non-politically correct or offensive to some.

As a matter of fact, as long as the discourse isn't foul, abusive, racist, or violent, I like the fact that it might be a microaggression trigger to some snowflakes out there.

Yeah, I am sure Jim Rob is unpopular to some. But he is fine in my book. This is his site. If you don't like it, there are a lot of other places you can go.

Step back. Look at the big picture. You aren’t part of it.

Thanks. I love it when things make me laugh first thing in the morning.

I've hit abuse for some of those popping up in my face especially when I was pregnant and sensitive.

AHA! So THAT'S what happened to me back then!

I have a free web sites. They are on shared servers. They are not high traffic, so it’s cheap.

FR is a pretty high traffic, high bandwidth operation. I think the software is proprietary, and it’s constantly being tweaked.

In the end, it costs what it costs. You can donate or not. That’s why it’s a donation and not a fee.

There are standards that are enforced. There are a slew of copyright issues that have to be enforced. I see some deletions of duplicate stories, obviously tasteless comments, and articles that are from obvious BS sources.

The editing has always seemed reasonable.

So...I am not quite sure where you are going with all of this.

Why is their censorship of businesses like Chick Fil A? Why are public school teachers who hold to Biblical values fired? Man, I don’t know...you tell me.

As of right now, yes. The Supreme Court could always change that.

Even though you were zotted for your impolite, ugly and untrue comment re the reputation of this forum's founder, you are no doubt yet reading the responses to this thread.

At some point you may wish to return with a different screen name. In the interim, I challenge you to prepare a response to the question in my tag line.

Preferably it will be a succinct paragraph or two that includes your best ConLaw thinking (its amendment process, etc) together with reference to the elements used by courts to interpret contracts (think of it as a cross-over bar question that also happens to include intellectual honesty).

Give it some thought and be willing to think outside your normal box insofar as your logic takes you.

It looks like preliminary zot damage assessment has begun. It appears that complete vaporization of NCLawyer has been achieved. Scorch marks and crater diameter confirm successful mission.

We are gonna need a hugh and series amount of backfill, and probably a few shrubbery to make things nice again.

So those who serve our country in the military and take their wives with them lose their right to pass their citizenship to their offspring?

Again in plain simple English. Your children are Citizens, they are not Natural Born Citizens. It takes a bunch of lawyers or a crooked politician to make NBC so hard to understand. Every school kid in the 50's knew exactly what constituted NBC, the question came up in discussions quite often after WW II and we had occupation military producing children.

You can imagine all you want, but facts are sticky things with their own force, none of which we are allowed to have a set of our own.

Nobama had produced a BC from Hawaii long before the Donald decided to glum onto the issue. Although, it did seem that when Trump started talking about it the nobama team tried to reproduce a more detailed copy, which for the most part has been proven to be fabricated.

If Trump was such a Birddog on the nobama BC, why did he seem to have “moved on” to other subjects and not kept on the nobama BC trail?

As to two US parents, it seems you have been reading something other than the US Constitution or US Law. Does it require two legal parents to be a natural citizen if born inside the US? Of course not.

Whatever logic you are pretending to use is not logical nor accurate.

Well, duh! Why are you telling me this? Did I not participate in literally hundreds of birther threads? Was it not obvious that I was arguing that 0bama is not a NBC?
