It's violent and it's laden with expletives but movie-going audiences around the globe love it. Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds as the physically and mentally scarred Marvel Comics antihero, demolished the opposition for a second weekend running in North America. And worldwide, the film looks certain to eclipse The Matrix Reloaded and grab the title of highest-grossing R-rated movie in history, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wow, I really thought this would bomb (don’t ask me why). Good for Reynolds though, I always thought he took too much blame for the Green Lantern fiasco. Nobody could have saved that script.
Interesting these secondary characters can score big time at the BO, see “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
I thought it would bomb, too. R rating = no kids.
Ryan Reynolds had a string of flops.
But the aging comic book guys really turned out. It’s sort of a post comic book comic book movie. If you’re tired of the tropes of the standard movies, this makes fun of them.
VERY hard R, too.

According to one passenger, he started working as an Uber driver recently. The passenger, Sara Reynolds, 25, said Mr. Dalton drove her and a friend to a movie theater on Feb. 14 so they could see “Deadpool.”
In an interview, Ms. Reynolds recounted how Mr. Dalton had told her that he and his son had also seen the movie. But he also told Ms. Reynolds, unsolicited, that he was a new driver for Uber and that he had quickly picked up poor marks.
“He had just started doing Uber as a driver a day or two ago and that he had already gotten some bad reviews, which was a little weird, so I asked him about it,” Ms. Reynolds said. “And he said it was just drunk kids and his car messing up a little bit.”
“I could tell that he didn’t really want to talk about it anymore,” said Ms. Reynolds, who described Mr. Dalton as “a little shy and awkward, but he was pretty normal for the most part.” Ms. Reynolds said she had no complaints about his driving that night.

The only thing really wrong with GL script was the choice of villain. Too big of s villain and too esoteric. You beat one of the biggest villains in the universe, exactly what are you going to.do.for an encore?
Just saw it Saturday. It is VERY HEAVY on the homosexual normalization propaganda.
Lots of references to homosexuality being "normal" or "routine."
Another propaganda effort from Hollywood.
Yeah. Right. Theaters were probably full of them.
I saw the movie weekend before last. It’s definitely a hard “R”, I can’t understate that enough that its not for every adult, but it was awesome and very true to the character. I highly recommend it.
My grandsons are begging me to take them (12 and 15). They claim that all their friends have seen it.
Fifty years ago this film would have been given a “B” budget to film in B&W or Cinecolor, and be shown on the bottom half of a drive-in double feature under HERCULES AND THE VAMPIRE WOMEN.
Today such films are given a class “A” budget, top rank stars, and super high-dollar special effects.
Not long ago I looked at the new releases at our 6-Plex theater. Five Si-Fi movies and one cartoon show all playing at one time.
Our youth truly live in an age of fantasy.
With Morena Baccarin it's heavy on homo propaganda?
***I thought it would bomb, too. R rating = no kids.***
I betcha the trailer was aimed at the pre-teen groups.
I saw it with the wife. We both loved it. Ryan Reynolds does a hilarious rendition of Deadpool.
Must-save-before-the-wife-gets-up!
Hey at my age I will have forgotten it in an hour!
She’s in the new Batman (kinda) TV show “Gotham”. The show is starting to grow on me - and having her in it certainly doesn’t hurt.
Renolds casting as Deadpool makes way more sense than when they cast him for Green Lantern.... DC destroyed that character putting him in as the lead.
lots of gratuitous sex language violence and nudity.
kids will love it.
I hate to break this to you, but if you think Comics are read by primarily kids these days you don’t know the demographics... Comics are $4 a pop or more. Kids are a very solid minority of the Comic Book audience. Deadpool in particular has never been targeted at kids.
Most comic book readers are adults.
