But what does this really mean? Yes, the dog is a dumb animal and the people with bad judgement are to blame. But what is the bad judgement? Owning pit bulls! If you aren't running an illegal dog fighting ring then owning a pit bull is bad judgement. If it's only yourself at risk than I'd say that's a choice but those dogs can and do harm children and others at a disproportionate rate. So if it's the human's fault, is the remedy to not allow human's to own the breed?
“Yes, the dog is a dumb animal “
Heh. In the context of “dumb animal,” what is usually
meant is that it is unable to speak. The problem with
pit bulls is not how inarticulate they are, but how
likely they are to kill your a$$ relative to other breeds.
If you mean they aren’t very smart, I’d say anyone who
brings pit bulls into their home is the dummy, not the dog.
No, not in my opinion. The remedy is for people to be educated and responsible. Since some people will never be either, well, they pay for it. This applies to nearly everything in life.
Where do you stop with "not allow people to own...."? Isn't that where we are at now with nanny state liberalism? "If it saves just one person...it's for the children" ad nauseum.
VERY slippery slope. Why do you think we have so many dumb ass people? Because we are protecting morons from themselves. Whatever you want to learn, you can find 100s of highly accurate information sources online, in the library etc. It's not like people don't have the opportunity to educate themselves.
There are 300 million people in the US. Put that in perspective. Whatever problem you want to find, you can find with that many people if they have any freedom of choice at all.
