Not really that simple, I am 45, also had fluoride water, rinses, toothpaste, flossed, brushed regularly, hard pressed to find a tooth in my mouth that doesn’t have a filling, crown etc. It has a lot to do with naturally occurring bacteria. Although I do agree with your statement fluoridation works for many.
Does fluoride kill bacteria? And yes re garlic...my husband thought he was going to have to have a root canal...used garlic...seems to have cured his problem...for n I w...I’ll tell him about clove oil...the garlic blistered his gums.
There is s direct link to Sodium Monoflourophosphate and the development of cavities in children and adults.
I have never had a cavity in 53 years, my wife has never had a cavity in her 38 years. Her brother, same, my sister who is 60, same. My parents teeth were lousy, a zillion cavities, root canals, etc, etc. My in-laws teeth are lousy too. They are in their early 70’s, my parents were children of the 1920’s and 1930’s.
There is a direct causal effect of sodium MFP and tooth decay.
I appreciate that there are those who don’t want it. Let them install filters to remove it instead of forcing the rest of us to live with lousy teeth.
I don’t trust these “studies” that demonstrate X, when the purpose of the study was to demonstrate that very thing. It is not objective. The premise of the study is to evaluate the effect of flouride ingestion and IQ. And gee, I am stunned to see that they study, supports that fluoride ingestion lowers IQ.
One could argue that over the same period of fluoridation, that the followers of John Dewey have lowered the IQ of those very children by the implementation his ideas.
We are not holding all things equal during the time of the study, and thus the results are suspect.

Duh. Demographics has changed, too (more third world immigrants). Plus the classification & counting is done by the pro-fluoride dental industry.
Fluoridation also effects your brain.

My husband grew up without fluoridation. ..very few cavities
Fluoride is also the main component of antidepressants.
I haven’t had a cavity since I was 10 and never had fluoride. Fluoride is a poison, it kills and injures many thousands per year.
What ever happened to eating well and brushing your teeth after meals?
You know, personal responsibility.....
The less draconian option would be to have those who wish to ingest fluoride to buy it and take it themselves instead of forcing it on everyone whether they want it or not and then requiring them to pay out of pocket to remove from the water what they don’t want.
FWIW, I’m allergic to all the chemicals in that chemical family.
Can’t do iodine, chlorine, or fluoride. I have bad reactions to them. And I know I’m not alone.
