We had the chance, and we blew it.

It's appearing obvious that Trump will win South Carolina, and logic would tend to indicate that that makes him the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination (baring any GOPe dirty tricks at the convention).

While I will gladly vote for Trump over Clinton or Sanders, I'm still disheartened.

Ever since the last day of Reagan's administration, America has been in need of conservative leadership.

GHW Bush's squishiness gave us Clinton.

GW Bush barely won election. I'm glad he was in office after 9/11 instead of Gore, but he loaded us up with tons of debt and a lot of government growth. He also gave us Obama.

McCain was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's first term.

Romney was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's second term. Even Obama was surprised he won that one after the destruction he wrought in his first term.

Now, our chance has come.

On the democrat side, we have a nasty, entitled, corrupt, untrustworthy, unlikable, old hag and a grungy, mooching, old, socialist running for office.

On the republican side, we have a solidly conservative, well spoken, highly informed candidate that isn't afraid to stand up to the GOPe and fight for conservative causes. It's what we ALL have been waiting for.

We've ALL thought that we could win the presidency and right the wrongs of the past few decades of creeping socialism if we would just put a true conservative up as our nominee in the general.

Well, this is our chance. But, we're about to piss it away.

I think I understand the appeal of Trump. People are pissed and Trump has tapped into that. But this is a time for thinking, not feeling. Trump is a demagogue. People want to be on "Team Trump" because he's loud, proud, and unapologetic. But, Trump is also practicing a scorched Earth campaign of character assassination against Cruz in order to win the nomination for himself, and his whipped up supporters are dog-piling on anyone who dares to point out the emperor's lack of clothes.

Two years from now, when we discover that all of the red flags and warnings being blared by Trump's past positions and statements really are an accurate representation of Trump, and we find that "campaign" Trump was just that, we will kick ourselves when we realize that we had our chance, perhaps our last, to nominate the true conservative we had all been waiting for, and we screwed it up.

Turning a blind eye to Trump's liberal leanings just because he says the things we want to hear, and helps us express our dissatisfaction with the status-quo, doesn't make his leanings any less liberal.

We've said that electing a conservative could set us back on the right track.

We have, right now, a chance that we won't have again for a very, very long time. A chance to prove we were right.

But we're about to blow it.

The point is Rubio looked like a fool and didn’t deny the accusation.

I know English and Japanese. Not because I'm a globalist, but because I'm intellectually curious.

I'm the most pro-American, conservative person I know.

No a big show tune fan, though.

Listening to the media mind controllers, will create this defeatist attitude. People with... minds, can make them up without the help of the invested power brokers— and that includes the so-called “un-influencable” trump (which is ludicrous on the face of hit— he is his own lobbyist and won’t listen to anyone else— meaning the people of this country who do all the work, not the elite mega property owners). Not one of us regular folks. Reagan actually was- and he actually had well thought out conservative beliefs and values. Use you mind— critical thinking. But, it is true that the fry-cooks luv them some trump simpletonism.

I agree with your overall analysis of the situation, and that’s why I want Cruz to get second tomorrow.

...because he can't find LEGAL residents willing to fill those jobs...

He can't find LEGAL residents willing to fill those jobs at the same price as the third worlders that we taxpayers are subsidising.

If you are really pro-America, you make a few sacrifices here and there for Americans.

Really, are you part of the "jobs Americans just won't do" crowd?

Votes have not been counted yet - I am still hopeful.
Right now there is no way I could ever vote Trump. Will do a write in. Would as soon vote for Pee Wee Herman. DT is too much like Hill.

There should be an internet rule for stuff Like this.

“Yeah, he's an evil Sith Lord but he wants to bring order ton the galaxy.”

I wonder how many of (insert dictator) followers knew who they were following but justified it like that.

Not comparing trump to Hitler, more like comparing you to followers of Trotsky, Lenin, and Stalin.

Yeah, they are crazy and all, but at least they aren't being controlled by Rasputin!

Cruz and his campaign staff did nothing unethical, illegal or even immoral in Iowa and all of the contrived indignation to the contrary does not make it so.

Many people who otherwise like Cruz would disagree with your assertion. Me, for one, and I like Cruz well enough.

It's convenient for you to imagine that Cruz is staying "above the fray" and is immune to engaging in any sleazy campaign tactics.

The reality is that Cruz has indeed done some shady things, especially with respect to campaign mailers, and in some cases he or his staffers have even issued apologies.

Man we have to break the back of the system. I hope that Cruz and Trump may make nice and maybe if we are lucky Cruz will get a VP slot. Where I think some blew it is by falling in the same old trap that is so easy to fall into which is the idea that electing a pure Charlie Brown conservative that tirelessly runs at Liberal Lucy’s ball will win. The problem I see is even when Reagan won landslides he still lost in key areas that have nearly undone all he did that was great. His amnesty totally transformed California and was like a big America’s borders are open welcome mat which was only made worse by stacked trade agreements. I don’t even want to have to go into GW Bush’s failures and I wouldn’t change my vote for him at all.

The reason I’m going to cast my ballot for Trump in Virginia tomorrow and not Cruz is because I see promise that Trump can finally break the machine, he can totally destroy the lefts biggest weapon which is control over the language and temperament and that is more of an obstacle than Democrats by themselves. Trump has proven he can change the rules of the game and win. No he isn’t going to be perfect but I think he is genuine on the things that count. I don’t see him betraying us on Abortion, Trade, 2nd amd, Health Care, or Immigration. No candidate not even Cruz is going to be perfect on all these things but I’m betting Trump will have more of a mandate and I’m certain he will use his power to Make America Great Again whether Washington DC likes it or not. We could’ve had a guaranteed ticket of Trump and Cruz but now its in doubt because some of us got too narrow minded and forgot who the real enemy is. Its not just Democrats. Its the msm, its the political status quo, its an effete politically correct mindset that puts our candidates in strait-jackets so that many of them end up behaving as if they are ashamed of what they claim to believe and are afraid of their own shadows. I’ll be happy tomorrow if Trump or Cruz win. I don’t hate either of them and both have disappointed me in the way they’ve dealt with each other but I choose Trump because he wont walk softly and he will use the biggest stick and go to Washington DC swinging it like hes shooting Ducks in a barrel. Payback is a Trump.

Oh yes there is; OTOH....Cruz and Obama and their supporters share many similarities!

Trump isn't your standard ideolgue. He LOVES America, LOVES her people, is an old fashioned patriot and wants our laws followed. Unlike the others, what you see is what you get, his word is his bond, and like it or not, he sees America the way it used to be...a unified place, where hard works reaps rewards, PCism is destroyed, the world sees us the way they used to...POWERFUL and a GREAT NATION.

None of the other candidates are on that page and NO...this is NOTHING at all like the idiotic "HOPEY CHANGEY" crap.

No. The reality is that Trump, and his supporters, have been very effective at persuading people that Cruz has done some shady things.

Character assassination as perfected by the Clintons.

Cruz has not been effective at countering the character assassination.

I was talking about when he ran for the Senate.

Don't you read the posts before replying ?

He is NOT a NBC at all; you are 100% incorrect about that, though it doesn't matter about Senators. It matters, GREATLY about a president!

You all can natter on about him being an American citizen; that's NOT the point and several years ago, in an interview, Ted KNEW and clearly stated what the requirements for a NBC is. Now he denies the very facts he once knew.

If Cruz can't handle that what's he going to do when the full power of the Clinton machine and their media allies start stomping him into the ground without mercy?

No. The reality is that Trump, and his supporters, have been very effective at persuading people that Cruz has done some shady things.

Apparently they persuaded the Cruz people themselves, because haven't there been some apologies?

In addition to that, it's quite straightforward to objectively look at some of Cruz's mailer tactics and conclude that some shady things have occurred.

I, personally, am of that opinion, and I like Cruz. But to assert that Cruz is somehow unique, and magically "above the fray", is patently naive and absurd, IMHO.
