A new weekly national tracking poll from NBC News shows Donald Trump adding to his lead over the Republican field, while Hillary Clinton's lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)16% narrows slightly.
Trump has the support of 38 percent of Republicans nationally, 20 points higher than his nearest rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% , with 18 percent. Hillary Clinton leads Sanders by 10 points, 50-40.
The poll was conducted last week, Monday through Sunday, so it mostly doesn't reflect changes from Saturday's GOP Presidential debate. According to the survey, however, Trump gained three points over the week, while Cruz dropped two points. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)79% also lost ground, dropping three points, while John Kasich rose four points and Jeb Bush gained a single point.
The overall breakdown on the Republican field is Trump (38 percent), Cruz (18), Rubio (14), Carson (8), Kasich (7), and Jeb Bush (4).
Trump's 38 percent support is the highest its been since right before the Iowa caucus. The number of Republicans who think Trump will ultimately win the nomination is also rising. Before the Iowa caucus, 62 percent of Republicans said he would be the nominee. In the week after the Iowa caucus, that number dipped down to 42 percent. This week, 56 percent of Republicans think Trump will be the nominee.
Trump's lead has also rebounded. Last week, which covered the period after the Iowa caucus but before the New Hampshire primary, Trump led the GOP field by 15 points. This week, after his landslide win in New Hampshire, his lead is back up to 20 points.

Just read Cruz has pulled ahead nationally. The polls are wrong more often than right this year.
NBC needs to sell Cruz more Ads
While you were at it, why didn’t you put an LOL by the Trump 44-17 graphic too?
So we have two polls by NBC that are totally at odds with each other, one with Trump up by 18 over Cruz, and the other with Cruz up by 2%. Someone is doing something very wrong.
NBC is reporting two polls with radically different results. Does the Peacock have schizophrenia?
They polled 800. Two questions - Supreme court and GOP race.
For Supreme court they kept 800 LV but for GOP they kept 400.
So they removed 400 LV.
Go figure. This is to make one news cycle against Trump. Don’t forget Rowe company did polling.
Open borders sucmbags at the Wall Street Journal have their hands in this....so take it for what it’s worth. Might be right on, might not.
I didn’t make the graphic.
Polls are meaningless until the voting starts.
“Meaningless” polls: I remember when Mrs. Bill spoke of the “politics of meaning,” but I don’t recall what that could be. Anyway, people like Mrs. Bill.
I doubt the WSJ would inflate Cruz’s numbers to account for their deflating Trump’s. Although I do note Kasich got a relatively big bump. IMHO this poll is just an outlier, and the only numbers it has right are Rubio’s, which are consistent with other polls. Oh, yeah, and Yeb! or Heb! or however you say his name.
The wrong one is given so Rush will have a happy time tomorrow talking about it. That is all it means.
I loathe the WSJ, so I always see red when they do something. So far it’s the only poll out there like this, so perhaps it is an outlier. If some other polls pop up like this one then we will have an interesting race.
