I think they were saying that few of the cars on the list are truly horrible and worthy of ridicule, unlike previous years.
Ugh, I fell into a sarchasm. I friggin hate it when that happens.
:(
Thanks for list. Saves effort.
Since retirement I have two conflicting vehicle requirements. I need a long distance highway cruiser that will deal with winter, gas cost and ride quality and I need a forest road and fire road back woods banger. I already have a second vehicle that is needed to tow a boat sitting idle out-state. The wrangler is not a highway cruiser.
No, the Wrangler is not a highway cruiser, although I’ve driveb mine fro Louisiana to Pennsylvania and back. I did take a long, hard look at the Trailhawk version of the Jeep Cherokee, and it sounds like it might suit your needs quite nicely.
I wasn’t really enamored by their looks when they first came out (not, “Jeep” enough for my tastes), but they have grown on me.
Jeep Wranglers are holding value. Even used ones now cost more than they cost new.
Toyota Tacoma. They are great. Mr. GG2 wants one. They are pricey but good quality.
The true off road vehicle is designed to be rugged (heavy frame and construction, skid plates, etc.), and be able to climb rocks and such and have a decent engine to pull a heavy load (car full of camping gear, four people) up a very steep incline. All of those things require a bigger engine which affects the gas mileage.
Nice pix. Nice jeep!
Well said.
Most “SUVs” these days are a compromise between a passenger car and an offroad vehicle with emphasis on the passenger part.
They lower the suspension so that it is easier to climb in and out of, lighten the metal so that it will get better gas mileage, etc.
They might do okay in the snow while driving around town but are definitely not offroad capable.
