Cruz on Trump: The Time For The Circus And The Reality Show Is Over
Breitbart ^ | 02/14/2016 | Pam Key

Posted on 02/14/2016 7:22:34 PM PST by MLL

Sunday on ABC's "This Week," while discussing the replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% said of his opponent Donald Trump that the time for the circus and reality show was over when it come to choosing a commander-in-chief that will uphold the Constitution.

Partial transcript as follows:

CRUZ: But Justice Scalia's passing also has a profound impact on this primary. It underscores the stakes for the people of South Carolina. They're looking at the individuals on that stage. They're asking, who can I trust? Who do I know will defend the Constitution and will defend the Bill of Rights? Because the pattern we've seen, George -- and you're a veteran of these battles for many years. Democrats understand the stakes and they fight tooth and nail for left-wing judicial activists. Far too many Republicans don't care about the court, don't invest political capital in it. And it's why so many Republican nominees have turned out to be disasters. And let me say something...

STEPHANOPOULOS: One of them that...

CRUZ: -- in particular to the veterans of the state of South Carolina. To the veterans in South Carolina, your Second Amendment rights are hanging in the balance. Justice Scalia, one of his biggest opinions was the "Heller" decision. It was 5-4, upholding the individual right to keep and bear arms. If an additional liberal justice goes to the court, we're one justice away from the Second Amendment being written out. And if Donald Trump becomes president, the Second Amendment will be written out of the Constitution because it is abundantly clear that Donald Trump is not a conservative. He will not invest the capital to confirm a conservative. And so the result would be the same --

I am well aware. My wife was born to missionary parents in Brazil, so she isn’t a U.S. citizen in your book, right? Where was Trump’s Mom born?

Cruz is a U.S. Citizen, which is an awesome thing, no? He can do anything you and I do with all of the rights and privileges America provides.. EXCEPT BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Thanks for playing.

Hey Ted...Talk is Cheap. You had your chance to shut up Trump in the debate. You didn’t. Please stop acting like the righteous Bible and Guns guy, if your gonna act like a wimp when your standing right next to Trump.

I really have begun to detest him.

You are not alone at all. For me it was the natural born question. It was not whether or not he was, it was that the question was brought up at all. Like the girl we all knew in HS who said she didn't do anything, we didn't even wonder about it until the question was asked. I quite resented having to even think about it, and his replay to this was too lawyerly by far.

You are right. PEOPLE DO NEED TO OPEN THEIR EYES AND BRAINS ABOUT TRUMP. They refuse; they just attack, label people as liars, etc.

The Trump supporters do not understand that leopards just don’t change their spots. I live in California and have lived through a potential political disaster like this before.

In 2003, the Democrat brand was severely damaged in California by Gray Davis, who was the first California governor to be recalled. California had the chance to elect a pseudo conservative, long-time Kennedy liberal named Arnold Schwarzenegger or a rock-ribbed conservative named Tom McClintock. The GOP-Establishment went for Arnold, saying he was more electable (McClintock could have been elected.) Donald Trump is just like Arnold. He’s been a liberal for most of his life. I’VE SEEN AND LIVED THROUGH THIS SITUATION. Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat. The fans of Arnold now live on the national scale and support Trump. In the end, they will be found to be damnably wrong — and I hope every one of them feels guilt for the rest of their lives if Trump somehow wins — and, not surprisingly, acts just like Arnold.

CRUZ: Listen, number one, I did not appoint John Roberts. George W. Bush did. Now once the president made the appointment, I supported that nomination. That was a mistake

That's the kind of lawyer weasel speak that drives people nuts. Yes, technically, congress does not make Supreme Court appointments, but it does provide consent.

Yea, its clear where Trump stands on gun control. In reference to so-called assault weapons, he was quoted: “who needs them except criminals and police?” At the time, he called for a longer waiting period for hand guns, rifles and shotguns.

In 2000, Trump criticized Republicans for “walk[ing] the NRA line and refus[ing] even limited restrictions” on guns. In the same year, he also said he supported banning assault weapons and expanding background checks. “I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun,” he said at the time. “With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.”

Trumps also believes if government can tag American citizens on the “no-fly” list, they should lose their second amendment rights:

Trump only now panders to the pro-gun voter by calling for ending gun-free zones. The fact remains most of Trump’s properties remain “gun-free” zones.

I disagree with your conclusion, but I appreciate that you were courteous in your statements. I think Cruz’s situation is similar to McCain’s birth in Panama (although McCain was born on a U.S. base)

You’re right, talk is cheap. So what makes you think that Trump, the long-time enemy of conservatives (donor to Reid and Pelosi, long-time Democrat, Democrat donor), serial adulterer and strip club owner, along with pro-abortion man and pro-gun control is suddenly a conservative. I love Trump’s 2009 quote about how great Obama is as president. People will rue the day this man — who says Carson resembles a child molester, and Carly Fiona is ugly — sees the White House.

It’s a moot point. Trump has occupied the high ground and he doesn’t surrender battlements easily.

I’m taking names and if by some miracle of hell itself, the pseudo conservative Trump wins, and is a little Obama partially from our side, I will do everything I can to shame these people forever. People who help destroy their nation in its hour of need deserve to be remembered — and shamed.

There are two types of citizen’s as I read it. Natural born or naturalized. Cruz did not need to be naturalized, so that leaves natural born. It ain’t rocket science people.

Trump is more of an opportunist than he will ever be a conservative. Imagine what damage can be done by seizing the opportunity only for the sake of self gratification. He may even get a Nobel prize!

OK, read your comments. Trump has been for gun control in the past. Can you point me to any similar statements by Cruz? So, how do you know, if Trump is elected who shows up in the White House — the Democrat, pro-abortion, gun control Trump, or the Republican, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment Trump?

At least Cruz is married to the same woman. At least he’s not a serial adulterer and strip club owner. Do you usually support adulterer and strip club owners for political office or do you just like Trump and his morals?

By the way, do you Trump supporters EVEN KNOW WHO WAS ONE OF THE LEAD ATTORNEYS FOR THE HELLER CASE, which preserved our Second Amendment rights?

It was Ted Cruz. His point is that the long-time liberal Trump will appoint losers to the SC, who will lose our Second Amendment rights for us. It doesn’t seem far-fetched to me. Donald Trump is a vulgar and crude man.
