It was the first time I ever saw a Cord, watching that movie. Later saw one in real-life, and immediately recognized what it was.

I’ll have to watch those again and look for that. I haven’t thought about Topper in years.

I used to like The Bob Cummings Show, too... and Doby Gillis... and ...

Rude? You don’t have a clue what real rudeness is if you consider my post rude.

The first dozen or so episodes of the “Topper” series have some fairly witty scripts. But it does go downhill into sheer silliness after that. And like a lot of early-tv fare, it’s really, really low-budget, and they sure ground out the episodes (39 each season) back then. Despite it all, the top-flight performers still made it reasonably fun. Same producers, I believe, who also made the “Mr. and Mrs. North” tv-series.

Upon first read, I saw Kirby, George and thought of Durward Kirby which reminded me of Rocky and Bullwinkle and the Kurwood Derby.

I get to enjoy not only Topper but Rocky and Bullwinkle this weekend!

Thanks, DfB!

(I find Rocky and Bullwinkle very “FR”ish too)

Enjoy the movie, the night. As for me, I do not watch TV, do not own one, never will, and I also have to work tomorrow. Explain that to your coterie of freeper movie friends. No insult to me as far as I know. Good night.

Well, you just did explain, to me and those who read down thread (I don’t have a ‘coterie’).

May I ask where you work? I used to work nights and days and also weekends.

If not, that’s OK. Hope your efforts work out for you, it wasn’t always enjoyable for me.

Good night.

“the Mr. and Mrs. North tv-series.”

I had to look that one up. I was too young to have seen it and I don’t recall ever hearing about it before.

I can barely remember Our Miss Brooks. With Richard Crenna who looked 17 but in fact had been an infantryman at the Battle of the Bulge.

Another show I recall enjoying was The Millionaire.

“In this hit 1950’s TV series, a millionaire indulges himself giving away one million dollars apiece to persons that he has never met. “

I love watching the older movies. I find the newer ones unwatchable.

No, you don’t recognize rude for what it is. I’d say you are under 30 years old.

I’m glad you enjoyed them.
Roland Young who played Cosmo Topper was a great actor for his parts and was underrated, IMO.
