It’s only taxpayer money.
I guess we do have the best doctors and physical therapists in the world!-)
Death Penalty.
Read between the lines. It’s a settlement of some sort negotiated in a back room. Pick whatever scandal you want it to be, but that’s probably the reason.
Lol. Not if the Boston cop running the same scam is any indication.
I read about this all the time in New York city. Who approves this sht? There’s no accountability.
Bottom line, these people are crooks and so are the punks who approve this crap. They had one guy a few years ago retire on disability after serving only SIX years on the force and of course there he was running triathlons. They always seem to be running triathlons as if to mock the system.
The golden goose for a lot of the NYPD has always been the goal of 75% disability and early retirement. Car accidents are always good for that. Lots of back injuires i.e. herniated disc helped with a high power lawyer, (No problem finding an injury attorney in NY) Seen it too often, just another money making injury claim at the public’s expense. BTW, recently I have seen some “very early” retired veterans with alleged non combat related “back” injuries. Suspicious??? It was to me when I found that two of them were brothers who were discharged from different bases with the same alleged injury cause by the same thing. My take on it is, better to give them what they want than defend the action with it’s cost.
It’s a miracle! No. Just New York.
A disability finding should not lead to retirement. It should lead to be assigned some other duty. But I guess that might offend some group somewhere, so never mind.
Anyone have an idea what a 13 year NYPD vet would get as a pension without the disability?
That’s the key question. Even if it were true that she could not run any more, there are plenty of jobs in the NYPD that she could still do.
They should start a cross training program where they do another job.
We may then pay them $75,000 to do a $35,000 job, but at least we are not paying through the nose twice.
Great idea you had IMO.
I played ice hockey with a NY State Sheriff who was on long-term disability because of “work related car accident” he had been involved in 8 months previous.
Mass...& Grand.....Back in the seventies Denver CO had a pension review board. They were awarding disability (tax free) pensions to police officers who may have had an on-the-job injury early in their career, but were able to perform their job requirements until they reached retirement age. It was a scam of the highest magnitude.
The media learned about it and the monkey business stopped.
I don’t remember if the board was given any judicial punishment for their actions. :-(
A miracle!!! He’s been healed!
