I don’t get that. Irradiation is supposed to kill all bacteria in the food, not render it unconsumable by bacteria.
And if they can’t eat it...
Renders it ‘unconsumable’ by everything including heat and cold - sort of like eating just deer or just shark meat without anything else to form a complete protein - just passes through but you get to feel ‘full’ meanwhile.
