My Super Bowl Party that ended up uniting the Conservatives/Republicans attending (vanity)
Me

Posted on 02/08/2016 12:13:09 AM PST by MacMattico

Each year for the past 20 we host a Super Bowl party and we invite the usual group of friends and family and allow our friends and family to bring others as long as they tell me in advance so I have enough food and drink available.

This year we had an interesting mix. Before kickoff one guy said he wished they could find a way Obama could run again, and that Obama was one of the best Presidents we've ever had. My husband quickly stuffed a crab puff in my mouth, in an attempt to keep the peace. But of course our friends were there and asked the guy if he were insane. My brother asked him how he could be so stupid and that Obamacare was one of the worst things that has ever happened to this country. One person said "let's just watch the game."

A few minutes into the game the female that had arrived with this guy said "I wish, no I can't wait, until the Democrats have enough power with Hillary as President to take away everybody's guns. Nobody needs a gun except the police and the army." Now it was the husbands turn. I wasn't going to try to keep any peace after this comment! My husband is usually calm, doesn't raise his voice, and doesn't dive into controversy when we have a family event. He spoke his mind but then this guy started screaming at my husband, and said if he could he'd call 911 and have my husband's guns taken away right then and there. My husband responded that he was such a typical liberal a-hole that he would come into our home, eat our food, drink our drinks, and than demand to take our guns. There were arguments back and forth for at least twenty minutes. Remember that question at the last debate about women being drafted? Well according to these idiots this meant that the republicans were ready to institute a draft and told my daughter she was going to Iraq. My 18 year old daughter spoke up and told the libs they were talking in circles, making no sense, and obvioualy didn't watch the debate but read some "psycho-leftist page". My daughter also said if it came to the point where her service was absolutely needed to defend the country, she wouldn't mind being drafted. As a mother I was glad she spoke her mind but when the crazies started getting vile I collected their coats and told them it was time to go. Can you believe they had the nerve to ask if they could stay because they had no place to watch and wanted dinner?! I said no one that treated my family and friends as they had and screamed the words they had used with children and elderly people around was staying. Then they asked if they could have some food to go!! I was furious about this time and said 'you come in here telling my husband you can't wait until his second amendment rights are taken away, you treat a high school student the way you did.. Out now. But here's $10, go down to McDonalds and eat and watch the game. You see, I am the compassionate person here, you are an instigator, a hater and just want free stuff. Leave now!" And they left... taking my $10!

I haven't even gone in to all they were saying, it was just to much to post. But I'll tell you this. After they left, all of the remaining party goers (about 40 people) said that they would vote for whoever the republican nominee was. Before this they were all over the map on who they could and couldn't support. My husband had said he didn't know if he could vote for Trump. He's not my choice in the primary either. There were at least 5 democrats. I've never seen anything like it. Our football parties have never become political. The rational democrats of our group realized their party was trying to pull them over the edge to the land of the crazies. Of course watching the game was ruined, but we have 40 votes for the Republican nominee, whoever it is, and we will all pledge our time to keep the Clinton's and their group of nut jobs out of the White House.

My husband was on the verge of physically throwing them out. Then they’d probably call the cops, maybe that’s what they wanted. I turned on mad mom mode and got them out! It only took $10!

How much you want to bet they are already recounting the tale of how a mob of mean, gun-toting Republicans threw them out of a party without provocation?

It only took $10!

I think you did exactly the right thing. You tossed them for being jerks, but were magnanimous with them. You were an object lesson to everyone there how to be compassionate but firm. (Also, their accepting that ten bucks will chap the jerks’ own backsides for some time to come! LOL!)

Well done!

Next year they’ll come back and demand $20. They’re democrats, after all.

It is time to start paring down your invitation list for the next party. Why would you even host a Democrat in your home?

If it was my sister I’d have said, “No, I’m not - I have a black sister.”

My daughter is that cute age six. She came to be with a bag of chocolate-chip cookies and said: I don’t understand why no one is eating these.

I told her there were two bags and I ate one for breakfast.

Her eyes got big as she said: Whaaaat?!

I told her: Hey it’s Super Bowl Sunday!

The few I invited are old school democrats on the verge of switching parties but their Irish Catholic family identity holds them back. They are quite reasonable people.

That IMO was your mistake. You opened your home up to strangers. I would never host a party at my house for any reason where I didn't know all the guests and wanted them all to be there. I would never extend an invitation to any of my guests to bring whomever they wanted to bring along. If they want to have their liberal nut job friends over for a party, then they need to do that at their house and on their own dime, not mine.

Well, the exception has been when I've hosted baby or bridal showers in my home but none of them have turned into heated political debates. Perhaps because I didn't serve alcohol? ; ),

Sounds like good times!!! LOL!

We always know our party is a success when someone has to be tied to a tree.

We had a chat about that this year. In 20 years we never had a problem before. Yes, there was some drinking. ;)
