Michael Moore on Flint: 'Don't Send Us Bottles of Water'
nbc new york ^ | 2-1-2016 | AP

Posted on 02/03/2016 1:33:10 PM PST by Citizen Zed

"The reason you can't help is that you cannot reverse the irreversible brain damage that has been inflicted upon every single child in Flint," Moore wrote. "The damage is permanent. There is no medicine you can send, no doctor or scientist who has any way to undo the harm done to thousands of babies, toddlers and children (not to mention their parents). They are ruined for life, and someone needs to tell you the truth about that."

Moore also called for the removal and arrest of Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, urging fans to sign the #ArrestGovSnyder petition, which as of Monday had 564,297 signatures.

He’d be justified saying it that way if he’d been drinking the water himself.

Moore NEVER lived in Flint. What a very strange sort of an opportunist he is.
Claiming to live in one of the very most dilapidated degenerate cities in the nation for the sake of self promotion. Amazing

If the whine is loud and long enough, they figure the state or feds. will come and bail their sorry butts out from a mess they created.

The recommended anti-corrosion additive was to buffer the pH of the non-lead bearing water from the river, to prevent leaching of lead from the old pipes. The ‘swill’ was brewed within the piping of the Flint water district, based on a ‘local’ decision not to follow the engineering recommendation.

Do you believe the governors office follows the minutia of city council decisions statewide, and is responsible for poor local choices? The people at the local level implemented the changes, and neglected consequences of their obviously short-sighted decision.

He is right, but sadly places like FR and other places political ideology trumps all.. Which is moronic.

Flints problem is not that their infrastructure failed it’s that they pumped water that had to have so much chlorine to be treated to safe levels that it had trihalomethane in it, which is corrosive and that is what leached the lead from the pipes. All they had to do was add phosphate to the treated water to stop this but didn’t and that is what caused this... It’s inexcusable and I don’t care the political affiliation of someone calling this out or the people responsible.

If folks are incapable of seeing the abject incompetence and and being absolutely outraged that an entire city had their children irreperably harmed by it then they have no humanity in them.

If Snyder is arrested, Flynt mayor and council deserve capital punishment. They are the ones at fault.

His solution is political. He wants the R governor arrested, rather than the D Flint pols who caused the mess.

Why should anyone listen to his spew?

So you believe that someone who did not have anything to do with the city’s decision to not treat properly should be punished, like Moore proposes?

That approach is idiotic.

It is not the lead pipes that are the problem.

Most North Eastern cities have many lead pipes in their water system. The fact is that most homes built before 1970 have lead solder in their pipes. It is the water. The water had been treated in order to prevent lead from leaching into it.

The city decided to save money and disconnect from Detroit and connect to the local water supply.

I said and have said, I don’t care what letter is beside anyone’s name on the ballot, those responsible need to be punished to the full extent of the the law. Then they should be locked in a room with the parents of the children they have harmed.

This political garbage is stupid, and it has no place in this. I don’t care if it’s Michael Moore, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump that calls this inexcusible tragedy an inexcusible tragedy. They are absolutely right to say that. If they say there is no cure for these kids they are rabsolutely right, because that is absolutely true.

On the substance of your last post, you are correct.

My objection is your assertion in the post I previously replied to that Moore is right - because of the specifically political solution to blame the Republican for the issue, when it was a completely different group (who happen to be democrats) who caused it.

Moore is only correct that the damage is not reversible, but his cry to not send bottled water is idiotic, and his blame for the next highest republican is both dishonest and idiotic.

I am unclear as to why the governor shouldn’t at least be forced to testify about all of this, considering that the state workers were supposedly given bottled water, quite some time ago.

Removing the governor at this point is clearly just hype from Moore, but he should be at least made to testify under oath about what he knew about this.

A lot of culpability to go around, but the city was run by a Snyder appointee. The MDEQ, the EPA, the state health department and on and on ignored clear red flags. Snyder and Gina McCarthy need to step aside. Their “watch” has proven to be ineffective.
