Watching Fox News, I see Cruz has 28% and is the winner, but you'd never know it, because it's been "Rubio is the real winner" and now they've been playing the Rubio 3rd place speech for the last 20 minutes.
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: cruz; election; foxnews; gope; ia2016; nolink; rubio; trump

I love Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, yet for the life of me I have no friggin' idea what the heck Ted is talking about.

Such gentlemanly words.
Don’t you need to add another 4-5 paragraphs to your thoughts?

It seems we both cringed with the "buy a farm here" commentary.
I wish he left that sentence out of the speech.
Go Ted Cruz! Go Donald Trump! Beat Hillary! Beat Bernie!

Look, I am an outspoken Cruz supporter and have been unwavering in in my support of Cruz and in my opposition to Rubio for his betrayal on immigration but I am not willing to call a thing by its wrong name simply because I support another candidate.
Rubio is a brilliant orator, he has won debates against Cruz and Cruz has won some others. Cruz is clearly the better litigator but on the stump Rubio has an ability to connect emotionally with his audience. Moreover, he has matinee idol good looks which appeals to a lot of women voters, he has a wonderful biography to tell, which he tells wonderfully well.
Without comparing Rubio to the man, let us acknowledge that Hitler was a great orator. So was Huey Long. That helps get you elected but does not make you a good man or even a desirable candidate.

Brief, meaningful, and confident would be better than what Ted Cruz is doing now.
Leave the crowd wanting more. Say "thank you" soon and step away from the microphone, Ted.

I can’t believe he is still talking. Who the heck does he think he is? He won Iowa for God’s sake. He really is a Pastor. My gosh.....this is insane. I can’t believe it.

tonight is only one state out of forty nine. Frankly, I think New Hampshire will be a much different result. Trump will win there and then sets up South Carolina as a real battleground. Rubio lurks in the background realclearpolitics had Iowa as Trump 29 Cruz 24 and Rubio 16. It finished 24, 29, 21... each off by five pts.
NH is at Trump 33 Cruz 11 Kasich 11 Bush 10 Rubio 9... so a big Trump win is expected.... seeing where Kasich, Bush and Rubio finish will be the big news.
SC currently predicted as: Trump 36, Cruz 20, Rubio 13, (Bush 10, Carson 9)

I found Trump’s speech gracious and sincere. Trump speaks from the heart, not from some prepared memorized propaganda notes. He’s for real. Buying a farm was a very nice local touch. He is in touch with his supporters.

Rubio is going to be the nominee. That’s been the plan since Jeb tanked. Say hi to Madam President Hillary Clinton.

I think before Cruz and Trump voters turn on each other again they might want to look over their shoulder at the common enemy now and that’s Rubio.

Does he not have trusted advisers standing off-camera giving him the "wrap it up" signal?
Whether it is Trump or Cruz as our nominee they have to build towards the general election.
Brevity for now, Ted, brevity.

Oh God. I don’t know but thank God Fox News cut him off.....now it is Bernie......I can’t watch him either but at least it is a different voice......not so robotic.
To: heights
Rubio is a slick politician. We worked our butts off getting him elected and he was elected by the Tea Party. First thing he did when he got to Washington was throw in with the gang of 8 Amnesty crowd, directly opposite of what he had been elected on. he is a liar and a cheat and cares for nobody but his own self and his own wallet. He doesn’t even show up for important votes.....too busy to be bothered to fulfill his duties to those paying him.

To: Mollypitcher1; D-fendr
Saying that he looks forward to his "next visit to the great state of Iowa" would have been sufficient.
The suggestion to buy a farm was a city mouse / country mouse comment that should not have been utilized.

We obviously grew up with different experiences of gracious and sincere.
I will agree that this was the most humble speech I remember from Trump, but it was a very humbling moment for him. Humility is not his strong suit.
The “I think I may come here and buy a farm” part was more to form.
