If there was any one shock out of the Iowa Caucus, it was Marco Rubio's performance.
He was extremely low-profile in Iowa, yet the numbers (at 99% counted) were:
Ted Cruz: 43,221, or 28%
Donald Trump: 38,029, or 24%
Marco Rubi: 35,791, or 23%
I'm not sure how this is even possible, except for this possibility: If Iowa has an open primary, the Democrats went in to vote for Rubio. I note that the ENTIRE Democrat field didn't even register 1,500 votes.
The establishment has been very busy, and it may well be that they pulled a Thad Cochran / Mississipi move.
Other than that, I am at a complete loss to explain Rubio's exceptional performance tonight.
VERY VERY INTERESTING.
It pains me to watch America go completely Soviet.
Do not expect a Republican Presidential win in 2016.
Total guess. I don’t think even a good guess at this point is worth much. It is too early.
But if I were to guess now, I would say the bad blood between Cruz and Trump campaigns will continue to benefit Rubio. BUT, either one could add their support to Carson, or Carson to them and Rubio is toast. There are too many variables to say.
I think the biggest problem is the upcoming open primaries. Democrats have way too much say in who becomes the Republican nominee. That is foolish and unfair to the rest of us.
In 2012 Iowa went for -—Barack Obama.
In 2008 Iowa went for-—Barack Obama.
I deeply care what Iowa voters think. Blaaaahhhhh.
Bizarre. I’m seeing around 160,000 votes for repubs, and around 1250 for the dems in the whole state. This is nuts. The GOP needs to end Iowa’s first status.
The gamesmanship is becoming too refined and is obviously corrupt.
‘Unexpectedly’...
Suspiciously is the correct word.
I want America back.
Cruz won. Yay. Go Cruz!
Dude I hate to tell you, but it’s not just Iowa. ALL OF AMERICA is obviously corrupted.
Jim Gilmore (who?) came out worse than “other” now that is funny right there.
I like Cruz. I like Trump. I despise that slimey snake Rubio and his fat-headed Turtle cousin Jeb.
Delegates distributed for Iowa per CNN.
Cruz 6
Trump 5
Rubio 5
Carson 1
I think the almost immediate turn to negativity the moment Cruz said he would end the ethanol mandate (The Governor declared that he wanted Cruz defeated, whatever it takes) and Trump declared his support for the mandate hurt. Rubio was their third choice.
It was a strange Caucus
The first state should be different every go around.. random picking or something...
Or all states all at once.
Low profile? Rubio has basically lived in Iowa for the last 3 weeks working the Evangelical vote just as hard as he could. H eblankedt the state with ads specifically targeted to the Evangleicals. Rusio has bee in Iowa talking non stop about his “Christan” faith. Apparently that was enough to con about 25% of Iowans to ignore his political record
As both Presidents Huckabee and Santorum will tell you wining Iowa, or doing well there, is absolutely vital to wining the GOP Nomination.
“Dude I hate to tell you, but it’s not just Iowa. ALL OF AMERICA is obviously corrupted.”
Well great Laz. That’s just freakin’ fantastic. And why haven’t you let us know THAT little detail before tonight? Ill be back, I need to go look out my window and stare at my neighbors a while.
LOL funny final comment. :)
I didn’t hear much about Rubio in Iowa, so ... he was low profile on MY radar.
And isn’t that what really counts? :)
No Dems at our caucuses, they were all too busy caucusing for either the felon or the Communist .
I’m thinking that’s what’s going in here. Trump was having overwhelming crowds compared to the others. We are being lied to.
Buy ammo, freeze-dried food, and water purification equipment.
Oh, and ballistic vests, and medical supplies, and scrap silver.
Oh, and a bicycle, and solar cells, and legacy crop seeds.
Oh, and survival guides, and a crank-radio, and rechargable batteries.
Oh, and a kayak, and a survival rifle, and more ammo.
Oh, and led-based lighting, and a good backpack, and MREs.
Oh, and a 55gallon water barrel, and a solar shower, and a few good knives.
