That school obviously has a sick, twisted social science teacher. But it might have excellent math and chemistry departments.

Here we go with the excuses and rationalizations.

"Yes, honey, you were butt-raped today but how about that baking soda volcano you made in science today? Wasn't that fun!?"

No FRiend, I am talking from personal experience. I taught for many years in an inner-city high school. The hallways were sometimes violent. But our chemistry department was excellent. We sent kids to compete in the Chemistry Olympics, and we often beat out teams from fancy suburban schools.

I would not fault any parent from pulling their kid out of that school because of the violence. But I would also not fault any parent for keeping a kid there because of the excellent chemistry program, or because poverty limited their choices.

Side note: I'm not bragging here. I taught physics at that school, not chemistry.
