The Supplicant: Stop Smearing Megyn! Ailes Refuses Donation to Veterans, tells CNN.....
Breitbart ^ | Jan 28 2015

Roger Ailes had three brief conversations with Donald Trump today about possibly appearing at the debate – there were not multiple calls placed by Ailes to Trump. In the course of those conversations, we acknowledged his concerns about a satirical observation we made in order to quell the attacks on Megyn Kelly, and prevent her from being smeared any further. Furthermore, Trump offered to appear at the debate upon the condition that FOX News contribute $5 million to his charities. We explained that was not possible and we could not engage in a quid pro quo, nor could any money change hands for any reason. In the last 48 hours, we’ve kept two issues at the forefront — we would never compromise our journalistic standards and we would always stand by our journalist, Megyn Kelly. We have accomplished those two goals and we are pleased with the outcome. We’re very proud to have her on stage as a debate moderator alongside Bret Baier & Chris Wallace.

..we would never compromise our journalistic standards and we would...

Fox did that long ago. It’s not the Fox that it used to be

Trump cost Ailes nothing, in fact as time goes on Fox will probably get more popular for not conceding to Trumps bribes and hissy fits. It was a very good Debate without Trump. Best one yet and no one missed him.

It really was a good debate, they all got their points across very well. I was impressed with all of them, and without having to exchange stupid barbs with Trump. He really was not missed by any of them or the audience. JMO

And you seem to not see that Ailes turned down Trumps bribe.

And you seem not to realize Trump collected more than that in one day for Wonder Warriors which was the reason Trump asked Ailes to pony up.

Ailes refused to give 5 million dollars to Wonder Warriors for our injured veterans(cheap bastid).     That is the takeaway for the day.

That makes Ailes the biggest loser!

Since every audience so far has appeared to be hand picked RNC hacks, I would guess the audience did not miss Trump

-- Cruz and Rubio both did poorly. --

I'd say they held their own. FoxNews was pumping up Rubio, and making sure Cruz didn't fall on his own accord. I think for external reasons (ground game, Cruz eligibility) votes will migrate from Cruz to Rubio. This debate is in harmony with that outcome, too.

-- I would say Trump got what he wanted out of the deal. --

Yep. The debate wasn't about him. Couple of "cheap shot" jokes, nothing stunning, made in passing. No serious suggestion that Trump has a problem on the issues, or of character or temperament.

Sum total, IMO - status quo.

“... prevent her from being smeared any further” ..???

Really, but “her” was the one doing the smearing of Trump .. but that was okay, I guess.

Roger .. there’s something smelly going on at FOX .. and if you won’t admit it and fix it .. it will only get worse.

They don’t have to ask Megyn Kelly, “Boxers or briefs?”

She practically shows the audience the answer every time she’s on the air.

You are so blind to any kind of external reality. Look, Trump is way ahead in the polls, so he did a smart thing to help stay there. It’s like a quarterback running the clock out in the final seconds of a game - when you have the lead, your #1 goal is to keep it.

But even if you’re right - he got it. Fox apologized and begged him to return to the debate but his event was only hours away. Instead of being cross-examined by Megyn and crew he had a ball with friends, family, and some great American heroes and raised $6 million. That’s what a winner does.

See?
