What no “Miracles” or “Tumblin” from the Red Octopus album. those were sexy songs.

I guess I'm one of the many who've now arrived at the age where the musicians who we grew up with are all starting to pass away. Jefferson Airplane was a bit before my time, but I remember how huge Jefferson Starship and "Red Octopus" was on FM radio when I was a kid. I also remember telling my mom I wanted the album (she loved "Miracles") and her telling me no very firmly. Didn't understand why until several years later, when I finally understood the lyrics =).

My first rock concert was Jefferson Starship in Hawaii, first semester in college. I am glad you mom wouldn’t let you have that album as a kid.The song still stands as erotic, but in a longing way, in a in the moment way; not crass. How terrible that those we thought as wild and young, when we were very young, are passing on.

I have a black light somewhere and the lava lamp is in the living room. But with these passings, it is hard to get into the mood. Wait... I married my college sweetheart (watching the debate on DVR in the other room) so all is still good, very good.

Nice chatting with you. Thank-you for sharing your memories.
