By now we have heard or read of the shooting death of BLM protester LaVoy Finicum and the wounding of his companion Ryan Bundy at the hands of Federal Agents. It has been reported by witnesses on scene that both were not carrying firearms at the time, although there were guns in the car. Finicum exited the car and was walking toward Agents with hands up, when he was shot several times. Bundy was wounded in the shoulder as he as he sat in the car. Other passengers in the vehicle apparently were not hurt.
We are still in a "Fog of War" condition, and it will take some time to establish all the facts, including the above. It was, however, well known both men believed that Freedom would be defended with their lives, if required.
My purpose here is not to make allegations, until the facts are clearly known. I do want to honor the courage of Mr. Finicum to be willing to, not only risk his life, but actually lay it down for Freedom. His and our own. Such person must be honored and respected as a soldier who "gave the last full measure of his devotion".
I believe that Freedom is like the electricity we so take for granted when we flip a switch. It must, and has been, generated by each generation of Americans, or one day the light will go out. Countless rows of white crosses give silent testimony to the cost of freedom for generations past. Our's is no different, and it takes only a single generation's rejection of this principle to lose our Liberty forever.
So, I regard LaVoy Finicum an honorable man who knew the cost of freedom, and did not shrink from it when his time came.
Death by cop. I truly believe he knew he was about to be arrested, placed in a cell for a very long time. He had already stated he would rather die.
So it goes. Very unfortunate and I hate to see this end that way. These guyz felt for whatever reason, they had the ability to travel w/o interference. Not sure why they thought this, but it's obvious they did.
