By now we have heard or read of the shooting death of BLM protester LaVoy Finicum and the wounding of his companion Ryan Bundy at the hands of Federal Agents. It has been reported by witnesses on scene that both were not carrying firearms at the time, although there were guns in the car. Finicum exited the car and was walking toward Agents with hands up, when he was shot several times. Bundy was wounded in the shoulder as he as he sat in the car. Other passengers in the vehicle apparently were not hurt.
We are still in a "Fog of War" condition, and it will take some time to establish all the facts, including the above. It was, however, well known both men believed that Freedom would be defended with their lives, if required.
My purpose here is not to make allegations, until the facts are clearly known. I do want to honor the courage of Mr. Finicum to be willing to, not only risk his life, but actually lay it down for Freedom. His and our own. Such person must be honored and respected as a soldier who "gave the last full measure of his devotion".
I believe that Freedom is like the electricity we so take for granted when we flip a switch. It must, and has been, generated by each generation of Americans, or one day the light will go out. Countless rows of white crosses give silent testimony to the cost of freedom for generations past. Our's is no different, and it takes only a single generation's rejection of this principle to lose our Liberty forever.
So, I regard LaVoy Finicum an honorable man who knew the cost of freedom, and did not shrink from it when his time came.
The cost of freedom has been paid on blood.
And we squander it today.
I think it was nice of Hillary to take the Fibbies’ manparts out her purse in the freezer and let them use them for a day or two...
Heard some “analyst” on Fox say that it was “suicide by cop” because they had been “told” not to talk to the Oregonians in the next county.
Just think about how much blood has been squandered by obummer in iraq...
IBFR’s resident jackbooted thugs posts that these rancher=patriots were “asking for it”.
“Hands up, don’t shoot”?
Or is this the wrong place to bring this up?
These guys videotaped everything. I find it hard to believe cameras weren’t rolling. Or is there a video?
Unlike the Gentle Giant. Waiting on Obummer to weigh in-not.
This will be the tell-tale sign of Fed wrong-doing: refusal to give up video of the incident.
The Feds supposedly had the whole property encircled with drones and long-distance surveillance. On top of that, I’m sure every vehicle sent to the scene to pick the militiamen up had a dashcam.
I’m waiting to see if anything gets released (probably not, just like Bin Laden’s burial at sea).
I detest the oppressive BLM and the FBI!
I’m on the side of the ranchers but I wouldn’t put any credence to these stories at this point.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is aerial footage of this from a drone. Somewhere.
When will the American People realize that THE GREATEST problem facing them in this country is none other than the menacing UNCONSTITUTIONAL $4 trillion federal government? What will it take? All the things used to distract men and women from the 800 pound gorilla in the room. Rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.
The focus should be on none other than slashing the feds by 80% + down to what is actually constitutional and keeping them in their constitutional cage.
Case in point: the feds occupy these state lands UNCONSTITUTIONALLY and, therefore, illegally. The constitutional requirements for the feds ownership of lands within a state are spelled out in Art I, Sec 8, Cl 17. The states should kick the feds out. PERIOD.
As you said, the situation is still foggy. But unless Mr. Finnicum was pointing a firearm or shooting at police (neither of which have been alleged by anyone so far as I can tell. Only that he was "charging"/"moving towards" the police), there was no need for this to happen.
The Washington Post (Times? Can't remember which) is characterizing this as a "shootout," with "one dead after an exchange of gunfire."
Not from the group of patriots.
No, probably not.
But in retrospect, they could have made good use of commercially available drones — even if for no other purpose than to get a look at the road ahead when they were moving.
It's possible, I suppose, that this was the result of agents new to the situation, not familiar with the ranchers but fully briefed on how "dangerous" they are (squatting in the woods, hurting no one), getting jittery when confronting Bundy and the others. Tragic situation all around.
Pray that no one else is hurt or killed.
According to eyewitness, Victoria who was riding in Levoy’s truck at the time, Levoy Finicum had his hands up and said “Go ahead and shoot me then”, and they did with a hail of bullets.
‘We are still in a “Fog of War” condition, and it will take some time to establish all the facts,...’
We’ll never know...fog of war, infinite investigation, etc etc
