Endorsements: of value? (vanity)

Posted on 01/26/2016 5:58:19 PM PST by posterchild

In recent days several candidates have received endorsements from public figures.

Has anyone been swayed from one candidate to a different candidate based on an endorsement?

Are there potential endorsements (from living humans) which would change your preference from your current top choice to a different one?

No, but it’s influenced my opinion of several of the endorsers.

The endorsement of one candidate by another politician is not necessarily going to sway any rational thinking adult.

This sort fo thing works on the low-info crowd, but that’s about it.

Would I vote for Trump because Sarah Palin endorsed him...no. Same for Cruz, because Glen Beck says so, or Mark Levin, or whomever.

These days.... I view the endorsement of one politician by another, more as a condemnation than an asset.

On big races where I know a lot about the candidate’s positions, no. In lesser races I am influenced by interest groups more than individuals. Right to Life, for example.

I agree that endorsements can change my opinion of the endorser more than the endorsee. I do not like the effort to entirely tear down people who agree on most issues just for their disagreement on a candidate. I think their words and tactics and positions are fair game. Expressing disappointment is understandable. Borking them makes me transfer the lack of respect to the borker.

Tomorrow President Obama and Bernie Sanders are having a private meeting in the Oval Office. Speculation has it that he is letting Bernie know that he will endorse Hillary.

Tony Perkins endorses Cruz. Will it matter to Iowa?
