Doctor: "Mr. Smith, even though you got this new job and you think your life is great, I believe you still have signs of acute depression."
"We've got a "team" of depression counselors who will visit you periodically at your home to "monitor" your behavior."
"Oh, by the way, Mr. Smith, do you or Mrs. Smith own any firearms?"
Good grief!
A lot of depression medication actually may provoke suicide. Had a dear friend recently do this to herself, and while the signs were sort of there, it was still a shock.
Will this Bull Shit ever end??
Mr. Smith you owns guns you are depressed. Wait here while I make a phone call.
Referral fee$. And happy pills....in return for serfdom.
What was that drug called in ‘1984’?
Prozac Nation has arrove. Arrived?
No, I like arrove better.
You can sure see where this one is headed. No guns for you if your doctor thinks you might have depression.
My first thought, too; backdoor gun-grab.
If depression were like, say, a urinary tract infection, for which firm diagnosis is easy and treatment is routine, this would probably be a good idea. However, diagnosis of depression is far more complex, and it’s far more difficult to find treatment that is helpful.
Precisely. You nailed it.
Of course they do. Screen, report, no firearms.
Define depression. After losing a family member, a pet, a job, someone may feel “depressed.” Define it. I can’t either.
And medication for “depression” is just a chemical that gives a false sense of feeling good. The situation that led to the depression is still there. The body can not express what it feels (sadness, shock, etc), and the problem is still there.
buy ammo buy often
They are going to cause Doctors to have depression.
Soma.
I don’t think your primary care physician is competent to diagnose depression at an annual physical. The danger here is through zealotry or government mandate a physician could enter such an diagnosis in your medical record without disclosing same to the patient. Voila, you are on the no guns for you list and can expect a night-time raid by an ATF SWAT team.
And if they are depressed contact BATFE immediately!
You make a logical case for a likely outcome to this travesty.
It's always a backdoor infringement of a constitutionally guaranteed right.
If your doctor asks whether you have guns in the house don’t start arguing your rights. Just deny it. That will work for now but expect legislation making it a crime to utter a false statement to your doctor and you can be sure that your statement will be cross-checked with CHL, FFT and gun-range credit card transactions and answers your children give in school-administered surveys.
