Greetings to all of you Gardeners, pining away for Spring, and getting some vicarious fun from reports of those who live in the warmer climates.

We are hovering right at 31 degrees, and the snow is still on the ground from earlier this week. School let out early on Monday and remained closed all week. We also had a short power outage, which brought on talk of putting in a standby generator, instead of the portable generator that we have for Hubby's business when he has to use occasionally at night.

I didn't get around to covering the garlic with row covers, so I hope the mulch suffices. We are supposed to get some warming up this weekend. My sympathies are with everyone who is gearing up for the monster storm, and hope all do okay in getting through it.

Have a great weekend. Prayers up for all. God Bless.

Rain Rain and more Rain here on the far north coast of California. The only color in our garden is this patch of Berginia. This strip of Common Vetch is the only area I was able to plant late last fall and the Garlic continues to survice

I’ve been potting up seeds this week - tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. Potted up the last (ok, only ones that produced) of the garden tomatoes’ seeds a month ago so those are 6-8”. Sowed Chinese celery last year but they didn’t come up so am potting them this year. Silly me, only had one tomatillo plant last year and they need friends. Couldn’t find any local seeds so bought a couple fruits at the grocery for seeds. This year, they’ll have friends.

The flats are in the cats’ sunny window so, of course, they trampled through it all this morning.

Temps are in the 50s and 60s so the only things in the garden are collards and mustard greens. The ginger has been dug and in the freezer. Yum, ginger/lemon/honey tea! And I should pick some more pecans but shelling the little buggers is time consuming.

I had the garden pots all covered up properly. However, the very strong winds have undid that so I can only hope for the best. We have had a smattering of snow this afternoon, now it is raining/sleeting and God only knows what the morning will bring.
