This is not an election in search of the “ultimate purest conservative” much to the amazement and dismay of many freepers.

You forgot the most important thing: Likelihood of accomplishing any conservative goal if elected - Trump 1%, Cruz 0%.

If we are so desperately deluded and horribly unlucky as to have Trump for our nominee, I will vote for him.
So Trump is just being efficient by supporting the establishment guys like McConnell, from the get-go, I guess.

I have not applied a label to my thinking. So sorry others do. I’m voting for the person who can fix our greatest problems because HE IS QUALIFIED to do so. You others can stick with labels. i grew out of that restriction a very long time ago.

The ethanol subsidy thing is an excellent tool for comparing Cruz and Trump.
Of course, Cruz wants to win Iowa, but he refused to compromise his principles and back the ethanol subsidy.

You are aware are you not that up until 1934 Ted Cruz would not have even been considered a citizen of the United States. If you are made a citizen by an act of Congress, as was Cruz via the 1934 Naturalization Act, you are by definition a naturalized citizen not a natural born citizen. You see a natural born citizen requires no laws to make them a citizen.
Of course, I'm already on record as saying I'll vote for the Republican nominee unless it is Bush. Then it will be a third party or a no-vote on the top line of the ballot. I just don't think I could let myself vote for Jeb.
What we're experiencing now is an intramural squabble. In the end, it will result in the strongest nominee emerging. We'll unite behind that man (or Carly) in the end. Bet on it.

I know that none of you watched Ted Cruz on Fox News Sunday because you might hear him say something bad about The Idol. But he doesn’t do that.
He was really impressive on the military. He was challenged by Glasses Guy on carpet bombing. He calmly proceeded to explain carpet bombing as used on Iraq. He knew how many planes were used ... all the details. He knew the aftermath, how the ground troops just sailed in easily and took the country.
He also knew how much our military has declined in numbers and strength. He knew this stuff and he cared about it.
It was something The Donald could never have done. The Donald or how about just The Don, deals only in generalities and sweeping statements.
Obviously you have ignored his statements about making government efficient and cutting out the multiple duplication of agencies. That says reduce waste and cut the fat to me. How does that not say limited government?
We do not need to destroy ANOTHER industry that is at the moment feeding people in an entire state. Our ECONOMY is SHOT, Bleeding, and Dying! Fix the biggest disasters destroying the economy like free trade, and then fix the details.
Trump is just making sure Cruz is down for the count. He doesn’t turn his back on opponents who can get back up.
