Will Smith broke his silence this morning about the controversy surrounding his wife’s Oscar boycott, saying that he also won’t be attending this year’s ceremony because he believes that Hollywood is ‘going in the wrong direction’ when it comes to diversity. The 47-year-old star of Concussion sat down with ABC’s Robin Roberts on Good Morning America to share his thoughts on this year’s overwhelmingly white Academy Award nominations, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s videotaped call to action ‘I think that diversity is the American superpower. That's why we're great,’ he told Roberts.

I guess even if he disgrees (and I don’t know that he does), he has to stand with his wife.
That said, I think the whole issue is a chimera.
Oh the irony. The knock on Will Smith has always been that his production company hires no blacks or other minorities.
well i used to be a fan....but then again if he feels that he needs to put his race first, then perhaps i should as well. fair is fair

I’ll tell Will to his face his son is a no-talent wimp boy who can’t act and has no business using daddy’s fame to get famous. That movie with the two was absolutely pitiful.
Well now I’ve got another actor to boycott. Demanding blacks be included is like affirmative action. If the role and movie are good, you’ve got a better chance of getting an Oscar. That said, I’m still in disbelief that Cher has an Oscar and Glen Close doesn’t.

I might actually watch the Oscars for the first time in over a decade if this boycott truly catches on.
He and his wife moaning about their talent not seeming to be better than the talent of others - all the while saying how it’s demeaning to have to moan about such...
