Opinion: Trump and Palin: Just deserts for the right-wing racket
Washington Post ^ | 1-20-2016 | Jennifer Rubin

Sarah Palin, in a zany, rambling endorsement announcement filled with garbled syntax and malapropisms, endorsed presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Tuesday in Iowa. The Post reported, "'No more pussyfootin' around. Our troops deserve the best! You deserve the best,' she told the crowd. '...I'm here to support the next president of the United States: Donald Trump!'" It seems a match made in heaven between the two celebrities, although Trump seemed miffed she spoke for so long. So how did we get to this point?

In some ways the Donald Trump-Sarah Palin team is the perfect comeuppance to the far-right - including the loudest talk show hosts, the anti-immigrant propagandists, the inside-the-Beltway groups that make money from political chaos and the pols who take advantage of all of those voices, politicians like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). The far-right did all in their power to undermine compromise, to promote know-nothingism on immigration and to root for government failure (as in the 2013 shutdown). Beltway groups, armed with score cards and vitriol, demeaned anyone but those like the Freedom Caucus, those who had no responsibility for governance and no risk of electoral defeat. They even took to savaging Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).

Palin, long after she revealed herself to be an unserious populist and the 2008 election was in the rear-view mirror, was still heralded by the far-right as the warrior against the MSM and liberal elites more generally. She was the queen bee at gatherings like CPAC. Her admirers insisted she, not Republican lawmakers trying to govern, had the pulse of the public.

“although Trump seemed miffed she spoke for so long”

I think she spoke too long too.

The presstitues, the Democrats, the GOP establishment, the Crony-Corporatists... they can do and say whatever they want about Trump. It does not matter. At this point, only Trump can take out Trump.

They fail to acknowledge the key fact that is keeping Trump on top - He is NOT one of them! He says what we want to say. He expresses our frustrations and anger towards THEM and their efforts to sell America to the highest corporate or foreign bidder. HIS opinion of what it will take to make America great again is also OUR opinion. Trump wants to govern WITH us-not in spite of us.

ANY candidate who expresses these positions will have the support of the middle class, but Trump has the ability to withstand the organized efforts to crush him.

That's what they REALLY hate about him.

The irony is that Jen sounds as bitchy as a gossip columnist in this article.

politicians like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.)

She had to touch all the bases and throw in a dig at Cruz as well.

I think Ms Rubin is extremely exacerbated and expectorated. What a pant load.

Crazy Jen again.

...

She doesn’t know that she’s inferior to Trump, Palin and Cruz.

She could probably relate to Lindsey Graham, though.

I’m supporting Trump for the election but this is a LOT of bullshit to hurl on Ted Cruz.

And it’s basically based on lies.

First off, Ted didn’t compromise? Seriously? No, Jen, Obama DID NOT compromise. Every single budget negotiation has been his way or the highway. The ONLY option the Congress has is to remove the money—which means shutting down the government.

Here’s a compromise on that, in itself: Let Obama share some of the CREDIT on shutting down the government, not just the Republicans in Congress. Because in the end, Obama, not Ted Cruz, would NOT BUDGE.

Now all the Republicans in Congress, who we fought hard for 2 years ago to be in total charge, just roll up in a ball and give Obama what he wants. Thanks to people like YOU, who only and ever blame only one side.

Immigration, seriously, who is against that? It is ILLEGAL immigration. You are deliberately confabulating the two to make it seem racist. Well guess what, it is AGAINST the law to sneak into or overstay a vista into this country. It is the law! EVERY country has them.

It’s NOT racist to want to see the law enforced. And to top it off, it hurts us in so many other ways. First, it breeds disrespect for the law and rules that everyone should follow. Secondly, we have no idea who is here and why. In this day and age of horrible, merciless terrorism, is that a good idea? Have we fully forgot 9/11????

No, if anybody is to be accused of not compromising, which leads to the triumph of Trump-Palin populism, it’s people like you in the press and the democrat in charge of the White House, and those defeated dems in Congress.
