As a horn player, growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, Mic was one of my idols.

Wow. Another Musician that was part of the tapestry of my and our youths. What is missing today? A band like this got airtime on FM rock even though they were Funk if you will, and got played with Skynrd, Hall and Oats, Ozzie, etc etc they all got airplay (especially the graveyard shift DJ's they played it all), no gubering program director was their to bust their chops ) Vs today, FM radio is a virtual wasteland.

Just damn...
Saw Tower of Power in concert when I was in college. Great concert, REO Speedwagon was the warmup act. Their sound was unique, yet not appreciated by people I socialized with. Favorite song? Squib Cakes, hands down.

Oh man, how I loved So Hard To Go.
I hitchhiked across the country to sit and read at City Lights Books in San Fran in spring
of 1973 when that song came out. (Beatniks & Kesey & Lawrence Ferlinghetti
& San Fran? Don't ask...)

They didn't just make some amazing sounds with horns, but they also were very innovative with saxes, did some very cool stuff. Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. They were awesome.
And a big leap of a different sound for their time and era.
