Looks like a lot of closures in NC, Texas, and Puerto Rico.
Lousiana getting whacked, too.

Is this a metaphor for our economy? If one of the biggest most profitable companies in the world is retrenching, what does that say about our economy which Obama assures us is expanding and doing so well????

Baltimore...

Wonder if that is in an 'affected' area?

The majority of the addresses are in marginalized (is that the right word?) neighborhoods.

Sharpen focus

ensure assets were aligned with strategy

Yeah -- sharpen focus on stores that didn't turn into money losers as a result of the minimum wage hike and ensure assets are aligned with a strategy of making money.

Interesting - mostly the “express” stores.

Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Jose stores are all impacted by higher “minimum wage” ordinances, and Long Beach, CA is either just about to do the same (or perhaps already has in the last few days). Higher than even the CA state-mandated “minimum wage,” which itself is higher than the federal.

Information.

LOL - here’s one - the Supercenter at 1010 Martin Luther King Pkwy., Durham, NC is closing. Read the reviews on Yelp - http://www.yelp.com/biz/walmart-supercenter-durham

You know that if you are in a store that is causing trouble by union talk, do away with the store.
In the case of the Puerto Rico stores closing it is due to “shrinkage”. (theft)

All the Express stores on the West side of Benton County, where the WM HQ is located, are closing by the end of January. When they opened, they were a godsend to this area.
When they close, there will be NO grocery stores north of Siloam Springs on Hwy 59.

GENTRY, Decatur, Gravette Arkansas, and Noel Mo will close. Now everyone will have to drive 20-25 miles to find a grocery store, ANY grocery store as Walmart caused the High Dollar grocery stores (And they were HIGH cost) to close.

The Express store here was always packed! It was the only grocery in town of 2000 people.

Sixty years ago this town only had 500 people and five grocery stores.

Now there will be none.
