New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo believes that pro-life activists, along with anti-gay activists and supporters of the Second Amendment, are not welcome in his state.
During a radio interview on Friday, Cuomo pointed out that Republicans were in the midst of a schism, where conservatives worked against moderate Republicans.
"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that's who they are and they're the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."

This quote actually came from some time ago. The gov pseudo-apologized for the remark a few days later, basically saying it was fine with him if such people stayed in NY so long as they shut up and paid their taxes.
don-o’s “snark” about “New York Values” is that it’s pretty much the OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT position on such matters. Yes, the _people_ are on the whole good, but thanks to NYC and other urban centers they get lorded over by profoundly & aggressively Bolshevik politicians - they don’t call NY “The Empire State” for nothin’.
I’m an ex-NY state resident. don-o has it right, even if he didn’t quite clarify it enough for some.
Cruzs was correct last night.
>> There are plenty of decent people here
You’re are absolutely right, Miss Marmelstein.
But it’s also an indisputable fact, based on those you elect to govern you, and the laws you pass for your state, that the decent people in New York are in the minority.
On the whole, New York values are NOT conservative values. They are not values conducive to life and liberty.
And New York values should NOT become the value system of this precious country. On the contrary, it would be an improvement if things in New York changed for the more conservative better.
I know it hurts your feelings when this discussion happens and I’m truly sorry for you and the other decent New Yorkers — but what is, is.
I did leave.
Hard to, as there’s much to recommend it.
...but now Georgia is on my mind: a place where Down’s kids aren’t all aborted, machineguns are legal, 2/3rds of vehicles are SUVs or pickups, and 80MPH is normal cruising speed - and mountains, plains & seashore is all nearby.
Remove NYC from the picture, and NY would be a deep red political color.
Certain other poster was, like the governor, telling others to leave last night.
Link goes to their comment.
New Paltz and Ithaca.
Forget it, she's rolling.
The timing of this is priceless after last nights debate.
At least give me a post number. Maybe I do not understand your concept of snark.
(Third cup poured)
Albany and Syracuse definitely have issues too.
Too bad you weren’t aborted you POS Cuomo.
Shame on you as well.
Except “I” didn’t vote for any of this. I never did. To be entirely accurate, my husband and I have maintained an apartment in NYC since about 2010 - when we finally bought a home in another state and were no longer legal residents of NYC. We are in NYC during the week and live there on weekends.
The problem with all this hatred expressed towards NYers, it doesn’t take into account all the hard-working, striving people who live here. You would think from the comments that it was some dystopian horror-show instead of a vibrant, exciting city that possesses the same problems that plague all of America. It’s values of hard work, discipline and cultural achievement SHOULD be American values. I think a lot of people here think it’s a gay pride parade each and every day! Nothing could be further from the truth.
I appreciate your remarks. It means a lot to me.
Seems she thinks your “New York Values” is referring to _everyone_ in NY.
Yep. NY values and that they keep voting democrat. South Carolina knows what Cruz was talking about. LOL.
What is it that I am supposed to clarify? What is "it"? I posted an article. I and others made some comments. Which of my COMMENTS do I need to clarify?
I will get right on it.
Baby murder is a New York value?
” when we finally bought a home in another state and were no longer legal residents”
So what’s your problem?
You are no longer a New York resident.
My residence could change on a dime. I’m already looking at larger apartments if and when we decide to move back and become legal residents. As I said, I’m a rent payer in Manhattan.
Why don’t you go bug somebody else? There’s plenty of Trump supporters besides me to annoy.
