Ted Cruz makes Donald Trump his Mitch
The American Thinker ^ | January 15, 2016 | Ed Straker

Posted on 01/15/2016 12:03:27 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Ted Cruz showed remarkable fighting spirit in the Republican presidential debate last night, lacing Donald Trump with the same kind of brilliant and witty lines that he's used in his fights against Mitch McConnell.

When Trump's bogus charges against Cruz's eligibility to be president were raised, Cruz turned the tables on him, remarking that Trump had no problems with his eligibility several months earlier, giving this incredible one liner:

Since September, the Constitution hasn't changed, but the poll numbers have.

Trump looked very uncomfortable at that. But Cruz was just beginning. He even pointed out that Trump's own mother was not a "natural born" citizen, and that the same tinfoil hat crowd challenging his own eligibility could challenge Trump's. The crowd roared with laughter.

When Cruz pressed Trump on why he was pushing this issue now, Trump admitted it was because Cruz was doing better in the polls, and the crowd roared.

The audience was clearly on Cruz's side, booing Trump not once, but several times when Trump pushed his birther argument.

Cruz also made the point that Trump was relying on Harvard Law professor Larry Tribe, a far leftist who supports Hillary Clinton for president.

Trump was made to look small and petty as Cruz came out as the first candidate to challenge Trump in a debate and beat him.

People who are hard-core partisans for one candidate saw a very different debate than the rest of us.

The rest of us saw Cruz win the 'birther' exchange, Trump win the 'NY values' one. A tie between them.

Trump's response on the China tariffs and NK was the high point of the debate though so he 'won' it.

The Dems would have no problem making an ad that went like this: “Do we REALLY want another first term Senator as President? Yeah, like we tried that and we got incompetence.”

Do you really thin that the demoncRats will ever admit taht electing the first halfrican american was a mistake? Hell no they never feed on their own, especially the affirmative action ones.

Great article. Cruz is doing just what I thought he’d do once Trump started attacking him.

What happens when Cruz is in a real debate.

You must be a Yankee. I can’t stand New York, or most New Yorkers. They come down South with their weird, rude, and in your face bully ways. We wish they would go back.

The New York Daily News front cover today is exactly why we don’t like New Yorkers. New Yorkers first inclination in every second in every day is to burst out with four-letter words.

It is likely that many FReepers have at some time or not mentioned “California” values, or “Hollyweird.” That is just like “New York Values.” New York is not like the rest of America. Neither is California.

Maybe OP has New York Values. There are a lot of faux conservatives on FR that exhibit New York Values these days. Last night’s debate thread was evidence.

All the New Yorkers down South sure love those New York Values, they came here to escape them - although sadly you can take a New Yorker out of New York, but it is rare to get the New York out of a New Yorker.

"BZZZZZZZT!!!"

Wrong answer. Born, raised and live below the Mason-Dixon line.

Would you like another clue, or perhaps phone-a-friend? lol

West Virginia defines the Mason Dixon line. Maybe like Maryland, you have been infected. Seems you do have a lot of New York Values issues. Angry much?

Faux conservative values? Like a “principled conservative” campaigning for Barack Obama’s TPA?

Your case of butt hurt is duly noted.

Angry much?

Only with cowardly FReepers who can't even be bothered to indicate where-in-the-Hell they're from.

Care to share there, Sparkplug?

Can't wait for the next Cruz ad....Showing the Daily News front page, saying This is the kind of N.Y. values I was talking about. The mouth says and does anything needed to get a vote. ONe video clip of the Mouth saying his lawyers vetted Cruz and everything was great, to the next clip showing the Mouth saying the exact opposite.

Oh and don't forget Iowa Conservatives. The Mouth just a few weeks ago called you...(Break to footage from Trump Campaign with the mouth saying 'Iowa Voters are STUPID') Bank on it.

I think the rancor during 2011/12 was actually worse than this time around.

Pissant, the Rabscuttle posse, the early Palin wars, the Perry wars, Cain, Newt wars......then Romney wars far beyond his winning the nomination. FR has not recovered from that time period in many ways.

Neither has the GOP.

West Virginia has not been considered the South since it was part of Virginia. Neither is Maryland, for the same reason.

West Virginia was created out of whole cloth (unconstitutionally) by a Yankee President. The same one that locked up the Maryland State Assembly because he was afraid Maryland, would join the South.

Those two states have since not been considered Southern. Yup. You a Yankee bub.

CW has still not gotten over Walker's demise, and she blames Trump.

It's not totally Trump's fault that Walker didn't make it, he was simply too vanilla in a time that needed bold strokes, and required some well deserved anger at the GOP's incredible incompetence since 2012 as well as the evil of the democrat agenda.

For some reason she's more angry at Trump than the rats or the GOPe. She was a good and faithful partisan for Walker (who I liked), her officially staked out position as Trump hater does not show well on her.
