For the 8th time in a row, Obama has not brought up the National Debt. And especially this time around as it approaches 20 Trillion. Maybe he might want to mention that when the debt hits 20 Trillion it could easily collapse the system and there wont be any more money for any programs? aka, "Free Stuff"? Oh wait, Democrats don't care about the debt so long as they have their millions in the bank and the hell with the middle class, right?
It’s the deficit what causes the ever increasing and unsustainable debt.
Yes and thank you REPUBLICRATS!! Go TRUMP!!
In my opinion our debt is the biggest threat to the nation. Our inability to address it, make hard decisions and set priorities, and our continued deficit spending will continue to snowball until there are catastrophic consequences.
It used to be “beans or bullets.” Now it’s beans, bullets, and bullchit - there is something for everyone. It is immoral, unethical, and frankly illegal for our government to saddle future generations with a debt they had nothing to do with. It should be the biggest issue in every election, but it gets little airtime or attention from the candidates.
Maybe it’s just me, but that is the way I see it. You can’t borrow your way to a better future!
i think Obama would be more concerned over Marissa Tomie over the christians getting murdered.
National Debt first and foremost? What we show on our national financial statements is, sadly, a mere slice of the accrued but not honestly reported national liabilities.
I’d be inclined to start asking the “5 why’s,” or ask “why” repeatedly to get down to the deeper root causes of a formerly financially and morally strong but now essentially bankrupt nation which refuses to admit and face the reality of its mounting over-indebtedness, financial folly and moral decay ...
To me, yes, national debt is a problem, but is it the root problem, or is it instead but one symptom of other foundational problems? I’m thinking it is a symptom of deeper problems.
Several layers down in the onion lies some of the root causes and near root causes, in my opinion...
Among the true root causes are things like character/integrity of the American voter. My theory is that in our national prosperity of the last 60-70 years, a complacency has developed, generations have been raised without understanding fundamental principles and absolute truths; belief and faith in God and in accountability for one’s actions has waned, philosophies to rationalize these things have been glorified, and short-term supposed “fixes” have substituted for a willingness to face hard facts and problems and to pay the price of lasting solutions.
Throughout history, a cycle of successes being replaced by collapses and failures has been the repetitive pattern of human cultures. Sadly, we don’t seem to be learning from the past but instead seem determined to live it out painfully, yet again. Americans get the leaders that a majority of her voters select ... and that voting majority has brought on the leadership - and lack of leadership - that we continue to suffer under.
Regulations—mostly state and local—have nearly strangled all real, productive work efforts to death. Open source equipment and building design is the answer for the other end of the default process.
Yes, you’re Definitely right to notice and bring it up.
I remember when democrats CRUCIFIED Ronald Reagan when our National Debt surpasses One Trillion dollars.
It’s now a crippling 20 TRILLION!
Also, the 5% unemployment rate that Obola and media lackeys reports is an Absolute lie!
According to Gallup it’s 9.9%.
And using pre-1983 BLS measurement methodologies, the 93 Million working age citizens who cannot find full time work (36 % non-participation) more honestly translates to 20%+
Effing politicians, liberals and media are delusional lying treasonous bass turds.
Future generations, by the way, will not pay the debts with currency. They might pay the debts with ingenuity and bloodshed, though (warfare).
Shame—over 40 years of it!
The U.S. is broke. There's a popular website (U.S. debt to the penny) displaying a furiously spinning debt meter whirling above $19 Trillion, but since the entire Federal budget is so completely bogus, the debt meter doesn't include off-budget unfunded liabilities. I've seen credible estimates ranging from $65 Trillion to almost $100 Trillion. Pick a number.
A national debt of $19 Trillion (or worse) is mathematically impossible to repay. We cannot grow ourselves out of it.
The only remedy is an immediate, drastic reduction of the out-of-control Leviathan state. Unlikely.
That leaves defaulting on all US govt. debt as an unthinkable possibility, or further devaluing the dollar beyond its already collapsed level of purchasing power.
Our staggering national debt is the inevitable result of utter corruption, criminality, incompetence, treason (covert wars, massive amounts of foreign aid to our enemies), and removing gold backing from our currency.
Everywhere else is worse, except possibly Switzerland. Too cold there.
