Donald Trump is fond of saying that he was the first to talk about a border wall or fence, but back in 2013 when Ted Cruz was pushing an amendment to create it, Donald Trump was actually meeting with a bunch of illegal alien activists to boast about the many illegal aliens who work at his resorts.
...at his New York penthouse office atop Trump Tower, he convened a meeting.
Trump ushered in a pair of men - one to talk about the awards and a Democratic strategist who works with nonprofits - and three young DREAMer activists. The DREAMers were on a tour sharing their stories with those less likely to support them, like tea party supporters.
"You know, the truth is I have a lot of illegals working for me in Miami," he told them, using the term for undocumented immigrants those in the meeting found offensive. "You know in Miami, my golf course is tended by all these Hispanics - if it wasn't for them my lawn wouldn't be the lawn it is; it's the best lawn," Pacheco recalled Trump saying.
Trump said he knew the work of undocumented people is what makes his golf courses and hotels great.
Make America Great! That's Donald Trump's cry. And in Donald Trump's mind, it's illegal aliens who make his resorts great. Then Trump addressed the issue dear to their hearts: amnesty for illegal aliens:
"You've convinced me," Trump said to the delight of the activists in the room.
"We all smiled at each other and said, 'Wow, we did it, we got this guy to change his mind,'" Pacheco said.
Trump was "convinced" to support citizenship for illegal aliens. That's old news, and Trump-bots will claim he has changed his views in two short years. But what is news is that Trump has admitted that he employed large numbers of illegal aliens and undoubtedly still does today, in 2016. How can he credibly run for President on a platform of deporting illegal aliens when he currently, today, employs large numbers of them? Why has he never tried to verify the identity of his employees? If he is content employing large number of illegals, how sincere can he be about deporting them?
Trump's like a bank robber running for president of a bank while still employing robbers to go out and rob banks.
In fact, Trump, who talks incessantly about "bringing jobs back to America" has repeatedly tried to import foreigners to take jobs away from Americans.
GOP 2016 frontrunner Donald Trump is staking his campaign on promises to bring jobs back to America, but a new analysis of U.S. Labor records shows that Trumpâs business have imported more than 1,100 foreign workers on temporary visas since 2000. ' One of Mr. Trumps companies, the elite Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, applied to import 70 foreign workers to serve as cooks, wait staff and cleaners this month alone, Reuters reported Friday.
Nine companies that are majority-owned by Mr. Trump have sought to bring in foreign waitresses, cooks, vineyard workers and other laborers on temporary work-visa programs.
Why couldn't Trump fill those jobs with Americans? Because he wanted the cheapest labor possible, and he cares nothing about giving jobs to Americans.
Trump has said he wants to deport illegals and "bring the good ones back". From his own personal business dealings, which continue to this very day, it is clear that he is a hypocrite who cares nothing about the illegal alien problem as long as it helps him line his pockets. I think he will bring all the illegal aliens back. A man who has changed political parties at least five times, leaving the Republican party twice before, cannot be trusted.
Yawn.
No matter how high the fine goes, it's just money and a business expense that will be passed on, one way or another, to the customer. Furthermore, if you make the fine excessive, you're imposing an expense that simply serves as an incentive to hire MORE illegal cheap labor.
We need to start locking up the businessmen who employ illegals. I want to see them perp walked.
Also, under Federal regulations, you can’t run E-Verify before making an offer and you can’t get rid of an employee just because of what you learn form E-Verify.
This is from the government itself:
“If you take adverse actions against job applicants or employees based on a Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC), you could face legal action, including civil penalties and back pay awards, and your participation in E-Verify may be terminated.”
Yes, Senator Cruz has seen the light on that. He recently co-sponsored with Senator Sessions a bill that restricted H-1B visas, among other reforms.
I am glad he did. I could vote for either him or Trump and be happy.
These workers were on visas and went back - this is a non story - sorry to burst your anti-Trump bubble. Now, go stick your head in the sand a little while longer about your little Teddy boy. Trump has said he has used illegals - but they were here on H-1B visas. Non story!
"They were undocumented and worked 'off the books,'" Manhattan federal Judge Charles Stewart said of the workers after they became the subject of a 1983 lawsuit. "No records were kept, no Social Security or other taxes were withheld."
Trump also had to pay a settlement.
So, it was a one-time thing. Let’s go back to the 1980s and dig up sh** shall we? In the meantime, how’s Mr. Canadian born Cruz doing in the polls? He isn’t a NBC and isn’t eligible - twist it anyway you want - but that doesn’t make it so. Wow, let’s hold something against you from your early years, shall we? If you want to dish it out - then you’d better be able to take it. You are a jaded, vile person - and sickening as well. I hope Cruz loses in a landslide - just so supporters like you can curl up in a corner and cry like babies.
A one time thing? To this day illegals are employed at his resorts. They have helped build every building he owns. Sheesh!
I care enough about this country to want a Godly man leading it. Unfortunately, that is not Trump.
Yes, Trump does not say it, but this approach from Bush was bipartisan, and likely to be embraced by the illegals themselves.
What is new (to me at least ) is the screening provision. Was that present in the 2007 plan? The only problem I have is that we do not know the provisions, and probably will not until Congress lays them out. But I would like to see a job, not welfare for a year, kids making normal progress in school (if school age kids are involved) and finally no criminal record or gang activity. At this point, why fight a proposal like this? And note that all that is gained is legal residency. Same as for all immigrants.
So I do not know how you feel, it is actually very easy on “good” immigrants and tough on those who will not be qualified to stay. I would put this right up there with the toughest immigration provisions and as I have said, we have the discussion about who stays and who goes — which is the discussion we have always needed.
Unfortuntately, you are playing God with your comments. God knows the heart of every person - including Trump and Cruz. Now, if you want a Biblical perspective - here’s one for you: God chose David to be king over all his brothers and those who were older and more experienced. Why? Because David was out in the field tending sheep while the others were trying to feather their own caps - so to speak. Trump cares about people - the others are in it for the power and fame - and that includes your “godly” Ted Cruz. He has no such warmth or feeling for the american people - so, when God relinquishes his throne to you - then I’ll listen to what you have to say - in the meantime, I trust God to know what’s in a man’s heart more than someone who professes his godliness - I’ve seen too many phonies in the Christian world.
Yes, Trump has spent his entire life in selfless service to others, without regard for his own fame or riches.
And, besides that - Cruz has only been in the Senate for 3 years - much like Obama had been - and has no proven record of accomplishment - other than arguing a case in front of the Supreme Court. We’ve already had our experiment with a junior Senator in the WH - and it has been a disaster - so, we sure don’t need another - and I don’t care how “godly” you deem him to be. God is the judge of men’s hearts - not you. So, stop with your Pharisee and Sadducee theology.
You are so full of sh**. Trump has done many, many charitable acts over the years - some which you’ll never read about - so, now we get to the bottom of your hatred - it’s pure jealousy over his wealth. True motives usually rise to the top. You think Cruz isn’t in this for fame and money? Then you aren’t aware of his dad’s screwy theology which he adheres to. Sure, Trump has made money, and he has also done many kind acts for others which he doesn’t publicize. I don’t like you and I’m sure the feeling is mutual - so, don’t respond to me any more - you are off the grid to me.
It looks like Trump is going to win Iowa and I am really concerned about you. Have you removed all sharp objects from your home? Do you have enough Klonopin on hand to quell an anxiety induced nervous breakdown?
Obama has been a disaster because of his ideology. Cruz is at the opposite end of the ideology spectrum from Obama. It doesn’t matter how much experience a person has, if they are wrong on the issues.
Cruz is right on the issues and has the vision and knowledge to lead us and correct our course as a nation.
Cruz has no vision - he copies what others say. Get real. He has no leadership qualities - you are so delusional - I hope you get help with your mental disorder.
I survived 2 elections of Obama. If the American people have not learned their lesson yet, I suspect I’ll survive the election of a wrestling promoter, if it happens. It’ll be fun to read the comments after about 18 months of that.
The wall will be nice.
You need to go back and listen to Cruz’s announcement speech, March 23rd, 2015. Then listen to Trump’s. You’ll see who copied who. Trump parroted every position Cruz had taken except defending Religious Liberty and abolishing the IRS.
